Does not work with ipod classic 80gb.......2007-12-23
This is a decent product, but it DOES NOT WORK WITH IPOD CLASSIC 80gb. Product description says it works with 80gb ipod, but it only works with the older model. Buyer beware. As far as I can tell, there isn't a portable dvd player that does work with the ipod classic 80gb. 12/2007
Trouble with Customs Officer in my country.......2007-12-03
J&R forgot to include the invoice mail, so when the product arrived in my country, Honduras the customs officer charged me with 80 US dollars, it is not fair that because of that kind of mistake I have to pay almost the price of that product on a tax customs fine. J&R still haven't written me to say at least "sorry".

Great Little NAS.......2007-12-28
Excellent product and great value. We were always creating shares on our separate notebooks and desktops where the kids could put their homework and we could exchange documents, photos, music etc. This device is a perfect solution. Been able to easily centralize all our data with easy access to shares and provide file-backup space as well.
Set up and administration was a breeze and upgrading to the latest firmware was simple. Support for FTP and HTTP protocols is nice. Access times and transfer speeds appear to be more than adequate. According to some benchmarks posted by cnet it faired pretty well against much more expensive competition. I can't really rate product support since I haven't needed it other than pulling down the latest firmware. The site seems well organized with good access to information and support.
All-in-all a great little product that ought to suit most home users very well. If you need redundancy, more storage and higher performance look at some of their other products.

It does not work on with MAC OS X 10.5 The network connection is extremely slow, you cannot use time machine and you get no help whatsoever from LaCie support on this.

I cant compare it to anything else, but what it does is awesome. I had to pay some much smarter guys to come over and help get it set up, but its neat when I need to get a file, I can get it from anywhere I can get a connection.
Its also cool how iTunes picks it right up and I can stream music from home or, just about anywhere.

Quality filter that reduces UV haze and protects your lens.......2006-01-16
Why should you get a Haze (UV) filter? The benefits include correcting Ultraviolet (UV) light which may cast a bluish tint to your images and obscure distant details, and protection of your front lens element.
The UV-Haze filter will improve your images when photographing mountain and marine scenes, where increased haze threatens to make your photographs indistinct in color and clarity. Be aware that this filter reduces Ultraviolet (UV) haze, and not haze related to other reasons like smog.
Photographers tend to debate the protection aspect of UV filters. Some say it will degrade an image to a certain extent and can increase the likelihood of lens flare. These are legitimate concerns that can be minimized with a quality lens filter. If the scene you are shooting doesn't present UV haze concerns, the filter most likely isn't doing anything to improve your image.
Hoya has designed the Pro-1 filter with these problems in mind. They applied 12 layers of Super Multicoating to the surfaces of this filter to produce an average transmission of 99.7%. Coupled with maximum surface precision, this allows for increased resistance to flare. Monocoated filters (standard inexpensive type) do not resist flares nearly as much.
In my case I shoot quite a bit of amateur softball. Using Canon L lenses (expensive) the last thing I want is to wipe the dust off my front element and accidentally scratch it. I would much rather scratch a filter due to the difference in cost between replacing the filter and repairing the lens.
Even though the protection provided by this filter is invaluable when I shoot amateur softball, I leave it on for all shooting scenarios. I wouldn't think of doing so with a low quality UV filter. I only remove it when I am using other filters and I'm not interested in stacking.
Another benefit of the Pro-1 series is the double threaded super slim filter that is more than 40% lighter than standard filters. The weight difference doesn't mean a whole lot to me, but a thinner filter means one can stack filters or use on wide angle lenses with less chance of vignetting (unwanted darkening of the image's corners). With the front threaded, this filter will accept lens caps without difficulty.
