A great starter player or second-room entertainment device, the Apex AD-1125 does double duty as a movie source and a music player, giving you a choice of video outputs as well as decoding for the popular MP3 and Windows Media Audio music formats. If you burn pictures from your digital camera to CD-Rs and CD-RWs, you can even use the player for watching slideshows right on your TV. Use standard CD-R/CD-RW media filled with JPEG images, or burn Kodak Picture CDs for even greater viewing options--fancy transitions, timing options, etc.
Composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. In the audio realm, a set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each optical and coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.
Apex's Active Full-screen Function (AFF) helps resize widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) video images to fill 4:3 aspect-ratio sets, and an LED indicates power status.

Kids' rooms?.......2007-11-05
Who would buy DVD players and put them in their kids' rooms? I am a teacher and it's no wonder I come across students with short attention spans who are failing their classes. Instead of the Dept. of Education implementing all these regulations onto teachers, they should do it to irresponsible parents. In most cases, it's not the teachers who are failing the students--it's the parents!!! (See J. Page's review)

I brought two of these in July of 04. I put them in my kids rooms. They watch movies on them everyday, and I have not had any problems with them. I am satisfied with them and my kids get watch their movies with no problems. Great Price and Still working

This is the biggest piece of junk I ever owned. In fact, I just yanked it out, beat it to a pulp (After removing my new DVD of "The Italian Job," and threw it away. Half the time, it takes 10-12 tries to get a DVD to "load," meaning you have to open, close, wait; open, close, wait...
There are also frequent skips and freeze-ups during playback. Apparently, it does not handle dual layer discs well at all.
You get what you pay for. If you want headaches, buy this. If you want to watch DVD's spend another hundred dollars for a player that works!
Another drawback: Apex apparently uses proprietary remote control codes, meaning you cannot program your cable or satellite remote's AUX function for the DVD.

This is my third Apex and the only one I ever had trouble with. Some DVDs play in slow motion or jump to some part of the movie when inserted. It also has a hard time keeping video and audio in sync. If you pause it will be a second or two out of sync. You have to rewind and play it a couple of times to get it back. This problem is with DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs.

I bought this for my Dad as a father's day gift. He and my mom watch DVD's at the dinner table while eating meals, and he uses it to entertain his grandkids on the Bermuda to Orlando flights.
He loves the color screen, the quality of picture and sound and the fact that he can attach earphones to respect others around him. He has had not bad experience with this item.

NO More Floppies!.......2005-05-03
This the best invention ever. I can go from my Mac to my PC without buying any more floppies for each one. That expen$$$$e is over with forever. I can go from any PC in the office to any PC in the world, and download, copy, or transfer any document or file I need or want.
The down side? Remember to keep this flash drive, 3 inches from your cell phone, key card, credit cards, ATM cards, or anything with a magnetic strip. They will demagnetize each other in a heartbeat. And it's murder to replace all that stuff especially if you're carrying around one of those gift cards with tons of cash! Oops! So be very careful. Don't carry them in the same pocket with your wallet. Make sure its placed in a separate area in your purse or backpack. If you carry it on your key ring, make sure NOT to carry your cell phone in the same pocket, not even for a few minutes. Treat them as though they were into deep sibling rivalry. This way, you'll still have your money & your documents. Other than this, I love this flash drive & recommend it to anyone who works on a computer, Mac or PC.
The greatest computer invention in recent years.......2004-05-05
I am so impressed by this device. I've used in at work and at home (XP Home & Win 2k) and it installed in a matter of seconds. I was told to always make sure that you "unplug or eject" the device prior to removal to ensure no loss of memory. I've never booted with the device attached, I always use it after it's already booted.
I had to give a presentation at a local university and I put my power point presentation on this device and simply plugged it into one of the students laptops. There are so many uses for such a product.
The only negative is with security concerns. I suspect that over time many large companies will find ways to block these types of devices. Also, this card does not have build in security or encryption of the data. Bottom line is this is the floppy drive killer!

Forget about carrying your zip drive around. This device can hold 256 MB, and fits in your pocket. At home, you can use this device to store all of your personal private files instead of your hard drive. When you're done saving, viewing, and manipulating your personal files, you can simply put the drive in your pocket and take your files with you. That way, even if you share your computer, no one else can access your files. Your files will be safe even if someone steals your computer. This method is more secure than keeping your private files in your hard drive, no matter the security settings you have on there. The best way to keep your files private is to simply not store them on your computer. Instead, use a device like this and take your files with you. A Great Little Gadget!.......2003-11-10
I often transfer files from my work computer to my home computer and vice versa. My company won't buy computers with CD Burners, and the floppy disk drive capacity is too small to be of any use, so I would have to use an external Zip drive and move it back and forth to get the files I needed. Not anymore. This very small device pops into a USB port (it works with 1.1 and 2.0 ports) and is recognized immediately by the PC (unless you have Windows 98, which requires a driver to be installed). It acts like a second hard drive and you can use Windows Explorer to copy files to the device. And it weighs next to nothing. It looks like a thich pen and has a clip and I keep it with my pens in my briefcase.
This device comes in various sizes (I've seen 128MB, 512Mb and 1GB in addition to the 256MB version I bought), so you can buy one to suit your needs!
