I have had this unit a few months and got it as a present.
The hook-up was easy as easy could be. I have used the VHS, the hard disk record and both played and recorded to the DVD drive. Everything works as described.
I have cable TV (COX) and the TV guide works perfectly. I schedule and record movies and TV programs. I am very happy as the unit works as described.
The manual is confusing to say the least but I am not a techie so that is expected. What I did find is that the use of the unit is intuitive so I have figured out most of what I need to do. Just watching the video here on Amazon will allow me to transfer my son's college graduation to DVD.
I would highly recommend this unit.

Great unit, but the original list price was $599. A chain has this for $449. Do not pay $999 for this unit!
This combo may be the last of it's kind, as I understand Panasonic will not be replacing it or selling a combo with a hard drive.

I purchased this unit in November last year. The unit works very well more than I expect.
However, the power on button on the unit and the input connector next to this button did not work from day one. I had to use the remote control instead.
Service department is the worse. The first technician just hung up my phone. The second (after waiting for 15 min.) took my info and promise to send me an UPS label and return authorization by mail (they can not do by email). The mail never came. I called again and this time I was redirected the phone five times with waiting tim of 15 min. each time. Eventually, I was able to talk with a person who promise to send me the label. When talking with their customer service, make sure you ask for the case number. I do not think anyone in this department work with responsibility. Sad story!

Easy to use and a snap to install.......2007-03-31
I have long used WD products and have always been pleased with the quality. This sleek little black number with its cool blue LED is no exception. It took more time to cut open the stiff plastic case than it did to install! Drivers installed immediately and without error. The drive was seen immediately by Windows. And the first data transfer - only about 500MB - took no time at all. My only complaint is that the USB cable is about 10 inches long - too short!

I run across this item while browsing for yet another thumb drive. As my main work computer is a laptop (for portability) I like to keep the hard drive clutter free to prevent a down-grade in system performance.
This one I did not purchase from Amazon but found at my local store for $60, no tax. It was on sale for 50% of the original price so I snatched it up.
It is approximately the size of 2 decks of cards side by side - or roughly the size of someone's hand. The back and side of the case is of a black material which prevents it from sliding everywhere - you can plop it almost anywhere (be reasonable folks) and it stays put. The rest of the casing is a metallic gray. Fits right in to my desk theme as everything is metallic and black here. When plugged in, the pretty blue light lights up so you know it is powered.
It does not come with an external power adapter, but I have not needed one yet. It's speed for data access has impressed me...definetly faster than my thumb drives - to me it's essentially another hard drive.
It's size and it's extremely light weight body make traveling with all my gear a breeze.
It comes with backup software for your computer which I simply deleted. My main purpose was to use it for a storage drive for my files. I did not want to have a copy of the file on my c drive as well as having it sync to this drive...I'd rather just store it on this drive. But if someone is looking for a good back-up data system, then this will work too.
Excellent product...highly recommend!

No auto focus for Nikon D40.......2007-10-29
I bought this lens a few weeks ago and found out that the lens looks different (it looks cheaper in my opinion) then it was pictured on Amazon and RitzCamare web pages. And I can not get "AutoFocus" feature on my Nikon D40 (in Amazon weg page and on the box it says it is a AutoFocus lens!). Do not get this lens if you have Nikon D40 and "AutoFocus" is a must. And the filter size is 52mm (not 55mm as it says in RitzCamera web page). Other than that, the picture quality of this lens is decent.
