It's also compatible with a wide variety of disc and digital file formats, including DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW, and VCD discs as well as MP3, WMA, and JPEG (Kodak Picture and FujiColor CDs) content burned to disc. It's also DivX Home Theater Certified, meaning that it's compatible with video burned to disc using both the DivX video format.
The SD-3990 performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.
With the JPEG Viewer, you can easily display your favorite digital photos and create custom slideshows with a few simple clicks of the player's remote control. The interactive Digital Picture Zoom feature allows you to select an area of the video from a DVD and magnify it. Other DVD playback features include fast scan, slow motion, multi-angle selection, multi-subtitle selection, and parental lock.
You get vivid, realistic sound, thanks to Toshiba's 24-bit/192 kHz pulse code modulation (PCM) audio processor. PCM audio translates digital signals from your DVDs and CDs into warmer, natural sound. The DVD player offers Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, and you can connect to a multi-channel home theater surround sound system via the coaxial digital audio output. DivX is a compressed digital video format (like MP3) that's based on the MPEG-4 video compression standard. It can reduce the video from a DVD (MPEG-2) to around 10 percent of its original size while still retaining good video and audio quality, enabling you to store several two-hour length movies on burned DVD media.
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Broke and didn't even use it that much.......2007-11-24
I've had this DVD player for almost a year and half and all of a sudden it just says "No Disc" whenever I put something in. Going through the setup menu I tried reseting it even went to Toshiba's website and found that a similar model number: the SD-3980SU2 reaches its life span after a short while and gives the "bad disk" error. They should extend that problem to this model number, because its the same problem. Needless to say I'll have to buy a new one for the holidays.

Very poor quality DVD player; it started giving the no disc error after only 3 months of very light use. I have to agree with the previous reviews that it's quite surprising from a good brand like Toshiba.

Toshiba US will only replace Region 1 DVD players so if it goes wrong, even after a few months they will not replace it.

It worked perfectly fine for the first 7 months. Then all of a sudden it has major issues. It will play original DVDs fine, but backed up DVDs and DivX will jitter and skip about every 30 seconds. It won't load a music cd, original or backup anymore. I'm guessing it is on it's way out and I'm in the market for a new player.

We bought this SD 3990 DVD player after Christmas 2006. It stopped working in May 2007. Even though it was well past the 90 day warranty period, I called Toshiba customer support in August to report the faulty player. They told me to send it back and they would send me a new one. Since they didn't have 3990s, they replaced it with a 4000. I only had to send the player and a copy of my receipt and pay about $8 to ship it to them. I got the replacement 7 days later.

I have used this lens with my Rebel 2000 and EOS-3. It's an excellent lens! The auto focus is fast and relatively quiet, the image quality is excellent. The best feature in my opinion is the large lens area, it captures lots of light. This is an A+ lens for the price.

I have purchased two of these lenses (autofocus version) for our Nikon N-70. I dropped the first lens and something came loose. This is a superb lens. I studied the Modern Photography Magazine ratings to select this lens, which was/is the sharpest zoom lens in the 20-120 range. Not even Nikon or Canon can beat this lens for sharpness across the focal range. Spherical Aberration is marginally higher than an average lens with this focal range, so you wouldn't want to shoot professional architecture photos with this lens. Tamron makes a semi-pro lens with an F-2.8 across a similar zoom range, but it is no sharper than this lens.

This is an okay PCI adapter, but I actually like the previous model--U.S. Robotics USR5416 802.11g Wireless Turbo PCI Adapter--better. The interface on the Turbo version was a little simpler to deal with. I upgraded to a MaxG PCI adapter to match my MaxG router, but did not notice any improvement in the performance.

I found the unit gave low reception levels and had to use its software to operate. Was not compatible with windows software.
I have a cheaper belkin that gives better sensitivity.
