Returned Unit.......2006-03-08
Returned unit. It would not play the over 200 DVDs I burned with my Nero software . I called customer support and talked with their engineer and he said the unit only supports burned DVDs burned with My Sonic.
It was a great unit , but did'nt fit my criteria. I hope the company updates to a fully compatible unit. Another weird thing is that boasts supporting Nero Recode but does'nt support Burned Nero DVDs.
The support line is very freindly .
Great Product - Great Company.......2005-10-28
Best customer Service I've encountered in some time!
This product had more features than any other company and at a very good price.
Had a few questions and called their number and got one quick and responsive reply. Maybe because their in New Hampshire.
This DXP-100 plays em all - CD, DVD, MP3, MPEG, AVI, JPEG's and of course DIV-X.
Feature full and easy to use from the GITGO.
Highly recommend both player and Company.
One Great Company and Player.......2005-10-14
I was having some trouble with my Avayon player after about 8 months and out of warranty so I called the company in New Hampshire and talked with this real nice guy who while we talked was already dispatching a new replacement to me. No questions asked!!! What a company!!! The player like everyone else says plays everything I put in it. No player I ever had comes close to this DXP-1000 from Avayon.com. They now sell the small portable type DVD player as well, and I will be getting one from them soon. Support this small American company. We need more like them.
Buy this player! This is a great company!.......2005-09-08
I'm a bit short on time or I could go on forever about my experience with this company. First, I had a question about my machine and I called the company and someone answered right away. A real person who speaks English talked to me about my question. They knew the machine and were not reading a canned response off a computer screen. This person was located in the USA if you can believe it. It just so happened that someone from the company lived about an hour from me. He wanted to see how I was using the player and how it worked for me. Ok, you're going to think that this next thing is out of a Hollwood moive but it is absolutly true. THE GUY CAME TO MY HOUSE to help me with my player! This player plays anything I throw at it and is a quality unit. It is upgradeable too! Philips, Sony and RCA are all the same. They don't care if they put out products that don't work. These guys do. Buy one of these units and let's keep this kind of service going. It's very rare these days.
Not for 16:9 tv's.......2005-07-11
I so wanted this player to work for me, it has a good de-interlacer and plays pretty much any video format you can think of. What it does not have is any kind of aspect ratio control for either DVD or other format video on a widescreen TV. The cheap Panasonic I was buying the Avayon to replace did this with ease. Divx and Xvid files of 16x9 video encoded at 640x368 that would probably look fine letterboxed on a 4x3 Tv, are stretched horizontally with black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Most frustrating was when I sent an E-mail to Avayon's tech support to ask if there was some solution I had overlooked in the support materials, and got a response saying that my TV was set wrong(my tv does have aspect ratio control, but not with progressive scan). Also, the remote has an incredibly narrow field of effectiveness, and it wouldnt play files burned to TDK cd's from Costco, but all the other cd's I tried worked fine.

Customer Reviews:
Failures are probably power related.......2007-07-04
I bought a Philips DVP642 which failed after 4 months. The warranty was only 3 months. So I picked up a DXP1000. It failed after 16 months with a "no disk" error. But I think this was because of my erratic power. It failed right after my UPS failed. At the same time 2 DVD drives on my PC failed without the protection of the ups. It appears DVD drives and players are particularly sensitive to power irregularity. I bet many of the reviewers failures were caused by not using a UPS. I will order another Avayon. One advantage of the Avayon over the Philips is the switch in the back to disconnect the power. When my Philips failed they told me I should have been unplugging it when not in use.
Worked for a while.......2007-05-09
It worked nicely for a while, but started acting up after a few months. I had to take the case off and reset the optical assembly. I think it somehow got off gear/track.
If you're looking to play a wide variety of formats from the net, you might look elsewhere. Avayon doesn't seem to be releasing new firmware to play formats like matroska, etc.
Bought one refurbished for $39 - So far so good!.......2007-01-17
It does everything it is supposed to do. If you are playing files in formats other than DVD format you must make sure it is in Constant Bit Rate format, otherwise the audio and video will get out of sync and then you have to rewind and forward to sync again. The only problem I have had is with the remote. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.. I can fit up to 24 thirty minute episodes in xvid/divx format on one DVD disc. Another drawback is that the menu only allows you to see a limited number of characters. Other than that the unit works perfectly.
Update - remote keeps going out, but the manufacturer keeps sending them to me at no cost.
Nero fails/Customer Service fails.......2006-07-08
I purchased this DVD player for its ability to play Nero video more than its ability to play DIVX. Although it claims to be able to do so, it does not do so correctly. Nero video is encoded at various speeds. Regardless of which speed a video is encoded at, this player fails to play it correctly -always too slow with the audio and video not synching correctly. The FAQs say to press FWD or RWD buttons to correct this but the problem remains. After numerous attempts to contact Avayon, both by phone and email, I now realize I've just blown $70. Other issues are that the DVD player itself is extremely noisey and the video is always magnified when a disc first plays. It has been less than 2 months since I've ordered this device (5/12/06). It took about 7 days to arrive, another week spent trying to troubleshoot things, and now 3 weeks of trying to get hold of Avayon. Based on the poor quality of the product and the complete lack of support, the DXP1000 wouldn't be worth the purchase even at a quarter of the price. UPDATE 7/27/06: Avayon finally contacted me and sent a replacement unit. Apparently, you cannot play Nero video if it's encoded with 5.1 surround sound. Switched to DIVX for everything I want 5.1 sound from. There is nothing in any of the Avayon advertising that expresses limitations with the Nero video. There is also no possibility of an upgrade that will fix this issue because the problem is with the chipset Avayon players use. Once I spoke with customer service, I feel that the future of Avayon is good but they need to communicate the details of their merchandise better and the speed of their customer service responses needs to improve.
Works fine for a while then NO DISC forever!.......2006-06-12
This DVD player worked great for about 6 months but now it says NO DISC for any DVD, production or created, MP3 , audio, anything. Now it goes into the bin. Buy a better player, not worth US $ 70 for the short time it works.

By limiting the field to 60 deg. (a Radian = 57.3 deg.) and establishing a uniform 20mm eye-relief, Tele Vue reworked the Nagler concept using the latest glass types to achieve optimum full field sharpness, freedom from distortion, freedom from ghosting (for critical planetary viewing) along with a unique adjustable eyeguard assembly which Tele Vue calls "Instadjust" Instadjust was developed from the need for proper eye position for non-eyeglass wearers. It is essential, since with Radian's long eye-relief, non-eyeglass wearers would easily tend to get too close to the eyepiece, resulting in vignetting the field, just as you would moving out from the exit pupil. The click-stop, Instadjust eyeguard permits fast, accurate positioning of the eye to the exit-pupil with maximum suppression of environmental stray light. Instadjust is topped off by a soft (for comfort and eyeglass protection) fold-down rubber eyeguard and protective cap. Usual Tele Vue features such as full multicoating, blackened lens edges, parfocalization, and grip-ring complement the Radian line.
