The DAV-DX255, a five-disc, slot loading DVD 5.1 surround sound system provides a flexible way to set-up the system to achieve optimal performance. With Sony's multi-speaker formation function, you can select from seven different speaker formations. Whether all of the speakers are kept in the front of the room or in a more traditional surround sound system formation the DAV-DX255 system can be adjusted to conform to the listening environment. All of these speaker formations are selectable from an on-screen display detailing speaker placement. The DCAC technology ensures that speakers are optimized for the room configuration providing a rich and enveloping sound. Additionally, this powerful 1000-watt home theater system includes an audio input for connecting and listening to digital music stored on portable audio players. For improved compressed audio clarity, Sony's digital signal processing circuitry and 32-bit S-Master digital amplifier technology helps achieve a more accurate sound. Another feature is a music/movie mode that automatically optimizes sound quality for music or movies by adjusting bass levels and cross-over frequencies.

Calibration Made Easy
Proper set up of a surround sound system can be a bit of a drag. Creating the right sound field in a room often requires a lot of fidgeting with the placement of the system's speakers. Fortunately, DAV-DX255 has an auto calibration feature that customizes the system to your space, not the other way around. To calibrate the system, you simply hold the included microphone in your ideal viewing position, such as the center of your couch, and the system automatically adjusts for speaker placement, distance and delays.
MP3 and JPEG File Playback
The DAV-DX255 plays MP3 sound files and JPEG photo files. Insert the disc and use the remote control to navigate through your folders to your files.

Dear Buyers, you get what you pay for. It's a decent entry level home theatre. If you have an HDTV then please invest in nice DVD player. This will not suffice! Avg. picture quality but sound is acceptable with hi fidelity and good surround. 4 or 5 stars is very generous and not deserving for this item!
TARGET buyers beware!!.......2007-05-01
I purchased this item @ Target on impulse which cost me $65.00 more than on the internet @ that time. Target would not attempt to match or give a store credit for $ 65.00 or any amount for that matter. Be very careful when buying/ anything at Target!
As far as the product is concerned, it is not as good as the other Sony 5 disc DVD player I own/use. The sound (speech)could be better quality and the loading of DVD's is combersome in comparison to my other Sony model. No on screen display when changing DVD's and a disc location light has stopped operating.
Music sounds terrific.

For $300 delivered we are very happy with this system. It sounds really good in my opinion. For people who are not sound experts this will get the job done at a great price. If you have money to burn, then go buy a $1200 system and it will probably sound a little better.

I wanted a decent surround sound....ok...honeslty, I wanted an EXCELLENT sound system, but don't want to invest $1000+. I just need something to take the heat off the television speakers. I have a 52" DLP TV - the picture is great, but the speakers are lacking. My husband has some high frequency hearing loss. I appreciate fine sound, but can't justify a high-priced system for our purposes. You will be disappointed if you expect BOSE quality sound, but this system does a decent job for the price. My husband is overseas and my youngest child recently married and moved away, leaving me to fend for myself to hook up electronics of any kind for the first time. I have always had someone else to do it. With that in mind, the system was easy to set up (all color coded) and calibrate. I found the remote wasn't exactly self-explanitory, but after reading the user's manual, was easy to use. I like the ability to program 20 radio stations. I do like to crank my music up sometimes. I find the sound is good (not excellent) It doesn't crank the volume I may like...but, as my kids pointed out, my neighbors would be complaining if I lived in an apartment! Loud enough. Overall, I am pleased with the system. It offers ease of set-up and use, decent volume and sound, 6 CD/DVD changer. I give it 4 stars because I'm a pretty tough customer - I think this is a good value system, but there is always room to impress me more!

Pop-Up Shades are LCD screen protective covers, which double as glare guards. to be an integrated part of the camera.
Functionally it does what it is designed to do - allow better visibility of the LCD in bright sunlight.
Attachment to the camera was easy and overall I am well satisfied with my purchase.

A week after I bought it one of the PLASTIC hinges broke. I can't belive they would manufacture this with plastic hinges! Don't waste your money.
Excellent Design - (Except for tabs).......2007-02-02
I did purchase this item for my point-and-shoot camera (2.5" LCD) and it works very well in blocking the sun/glare from the screen. My only problem, and it's a big one, is that in removing the shade itself, when you don't need it is a nice little TAB arrangement (4 TABS, 2/top and 2/bottom) made of plastic. These little tabs actually broke off within 2 weeks of purchase. Not very reliable. These should be made of a stronger material so they don't break with normal use.

I have an older Sony Mavica that I put this shade on. It installs very easily and allows me to see the LCD screen MUCH more clearly in sunlight, or bright light. It's a great little invention, and well worth the $$$$ spent to purchase it.
It fell off and was lost... good while it lasted........2006-12-15
A good feature is also a fatal flaw. When not needed the shade easily slips off leaving the mount in place. Mine fell off at some point and was lost forever. The mount remains and continues to protect the LCD screen. I would not recommend you purchase.
