The unit plays DVD-Video (both NTSC and PAL-formatted discs), CDs (including recordable and rewriteable CDs), MP3-filled music discs, and Kodak Picture CDs for custom slide shows of your digital photos. A bright, 8-inch TFT(active-matrix) color LCD makes any program look great, and it's configured in a 16:9 widescreen dimension that matches the shape of most DVD movies.
At home, you can connect the player to a television (either composite- or S-video), and--when it's hooked up to a compatible audio/video receiver and multichannel speaker system--the tiny player can bring soundtracks to life with Dolby Digital 5.1-channel sound.
Designed for easy use on the road, the MDP-1810KIT includes a high-capacity rechargeable lithium battery pack, a car power adapter, and an AC power adapter. I purchased this item BECAUSE it allegedly came as a complete kit according to the description. When it arrived (took 12days)there was no carrying case and no stereo headphones!!!!!!
And the packaging? It was delivered in the Mintek box as though it came right off the store shelf. No protective covering, no packing box.
I haven't even plugged it in I am so disgusted!
2 Years and Still Working.......2007-05-21
Bought this at Kohls's almost 2 years ago and it is still working... used mostly by my daughter to play movies and CD's in the car. I was worried that it was not a big name electronics maker and I have not had to deal with Mintek customer service, so I can't comment on that. But so far I have been very pleased with the purchase.

I would have given this item 0 stars, but there was no such opportunity. I borrowed this from my girlfriend for a trip to visit my grandpa in the hospitol, and it worked great, for most of the trip. Then it just stopped and never worked again. It says no disc when you put a DVD in. DO NOT BUY THIS! I had to stpend money again and buy a new one for my girlfriends family. Total junk!
Decent for the price.......2006-01-02
I have had mine about 2 years. It works great. Yes, the speakers are weak in a large area, but a set of computer speakers fix that problem. I have had a few loading problems, but they are recorded DVD's. I usually just reload and it works fine. I have used it in the car, on airplane trips and at work. We watch between patients, sometimes it takes 4 hours to watch a less than 2 hour movie, and it will keep our place in the pause mode. This is a great function. I love mine
Player is unreliable - do not buy!.......2005-12-27
The player does not always load the DVD's. And it never fails that part way during the movie, it will stop playing, get stuck on a scene, and never start again. It is completely unreliable. Sadly, I did not start having serious problems with it until after the warranty was up. I've only had it 6 months and it is very frustrating that it was such a waste of money.
