Don't Have a Clue.......2007-10-31

Do not have a clue to the properties of this item as it has been about 45 days and I still have not received the item. :(

Needed a new answering machine. This one was priced right where I was
prepared to buy. The phone is clear to talk to others, and incoming
calls are sharp and loud enough as well. In all, a good buy if you need
a new phone / answering machine.

Not a bad phone, but not great either.......2007-07-10

I've had this phone for a couple months now. Here are my thoughts:

Pros:
* Small receiver but big enough that I can easily hold it between my head / shoulders (and I'm a fairly big guy, 6'2" 200 pounds).
* Big buttons
* When you slightly press a button, the handset lights up so it's easy to use in the dark
* No caller ID screen - I don't have caller ID and don't want a blank screen on my phone
* Good sound / ring / battery life / range

Cons:
* The receiver doesn't clip into the base, it sits in it. Thus the base can't sit flat against the wall, it juts out at about a 30º or 35º angle. Very annoying.
* There is a big red light that tells you that the answering machine is on, but the light that tells you that you have a message is very small. And because the base juts out from the wall, it is difficult to tell if I have a message or not - basically I have to look at the number of messages and try to remember how many I had before.
* The phone fits comfortably between my shoulder and head, but the "off" button is so large that if I shift my shoulder sometimes my ear literally presses the off button, ending the call. This has happened a few times, extremely annoying of course.
* Low battery light doesn't work, or there is none? I didn't notice any and my phone has just died, needing a recharge.

If I had to do it over again, I would not buy this phone, I would buy a phone with a caller ID screen even though I don't have caller ID (lots more choices).

Works as Advertised.......2007-07-06

Okay. Well, it's been about twelve years since I last bought a land line phone, and the technology has improved. However, I still think this phone is as advertised and is heads above most phones. The buttons are big. You would have to have very large hands or a major neurological problem to not be able to use this phone. I have tested the sound, including the volume by using it to call my cell phone and using my cell phone to call it. The sound is very good, and it is loud enough. I could and had to turn up the volume on my last phone a lot. I haven't had to turn up the volume of this one yet. The ring tone can be changed, but I'm satisfied with the default one. And 2.4 GHz is powerful enough for a place that is about 800 square feet or less--one to two bedroom apartment size.

I set the phone up in about 10 minutes. I only had to read the instructions to set the date and time. Recording a greeting and retrieving messages is intuitive. Those things are extremely easy to do, and you'll probably find you won't need the instructions to do them. The buttons light up, which is very useful when using the phone in the dark, and I like the speakerphone. Nothing like being able to put a phone on speaker when you are on hold. The only features the phone doesn't have is caller-ID. I don't miss caller-ID, since I don't subscribe to it.

Solid phone.......2007-04-03

Both the phone & answering system sound great. The phone is solid. I hope this lasts as long as my previous Panasonic. The only thing I don't like is the ringtone.
