Memorex means "customer unfriendly" junk!.......2007-05-20
I sadly purchased this dvd player from the local Target with high hopes and a thin wallet. The player lasted three months (guarantee limit) plus four days. On the disasterous fourth day I inserted a previously playable disc into the unit, pushed the disc tray "close" button - the tray closed and then opened, closed and then opened, closed and then opened and on and on. I then resorted to the manual microprocessor "reset" procedure i.e. turn off unit, unplug for at least one minute, then reinsert power plug and "bingo" the unit SHOULD work properly. Unfortunately, that was not the case. It continued to auto cycle - tray in, tray out etc. I returned the dvd player to Target - they were no help (expired guarantee), but gave me Memorex telephone number. I called Memorex in Florida - their customer no-service informed me it would be $98 to repair plus shipping and handling for a $45 machine. No thanks - I will just buy "cheapos" in the future and exchange them up to end of 90 day guarantee(?)period WHEN they fail. The dvd player will NOT be Memorex and the dealer will not be Target!!!

worked well until it died (2 years).......2007-02-02
I received this for Christmas in 2004, and it worked well for two years until it died in December 2006. The warranty is 90 days, so I asked Customer Support of they just expect this sort of thing? They offered to repair it for $24.75, but I could buy a new one for about the same price. Still trying to decide what to do.
Don't buy this one!.......2006-09-11
Very disappointed. Memorex claims that this DVD player will play DVDs, VCDs, Kodak Picture CDs, and music CDs, but all it will play for me are pre-recorded DVDs. It does that very well, and has lots of remote control features for the price, but it won't play my pre-recorded CDs; it won't play any VCD I've ever tried; and it won't play any home-burned DVDs or Picture CDs made on either a Dell or an HP computer.
I returned the first one I bought (thinking it was just a bad machine), but the replacement behaves in just the same way.
There are much better machines out there if you need a DVD player to handle lots of different things.
It works fine.......2005-12-31
First of all, I'm not a kid. :) I'm just too lazy to login. :)
Well,I've just bought it from Target for my room's TV,because the price is so low.:)I highly doubted if it could work at first, you know, it's too cheap:). After I put my "pal" format and region zero DVD into it, it worked fine! And beyond my expectation, there are hacks that can transform it into region zero DVD player! I think it's great for a 29 bucks DVD player.
It doesn't work .......2005-12-27
I just open it and it doesn't work. The remote doesn't work. And it doesn't open. But the power comes on. I'm going to go return now..

I Returned This Phone System.......2007-12-31
The graphics are lots of fun and my kids loved the intercom. However, the call waiting does not work at all. You have to hang up on the first call to take the second call. And I couldn't get the message light to work on any of the three handsets I had to let me know that I had received a voicemail message. These are basic functions that an expensive system like this should handle well. I also fund the system to be over complicated. Too many steps to review the call log, add phone numbers to the stored list, etc.
Good cordless phone, but . . . .......2007-12-17
I selected this model as a high quality cordless phone that doesn't have a built in message recorder (I already have a stand-alone recorder that works great!)
The new phone works great, although setting it up with a second auxiliary phone takes very careful following of the directions -- I almost accidentaly reset the base phone ID number, which is ok, except I didn't realize what I'd done and I couldn't recall the new number after I reset it, which would have required a call to the manufacture, if I hadn't remembered the new code number! So, read the manual.
For audio quality and look and feel, this phone is great!
My only complaint is that the built in clock is very inaccurate -- it actually looses about 4 minutes a week! In this day and age of electronic quartz controlled clocks, an loss like that is pretty amazing! It means I have to reset it once a week or so, which is worse than my 100 year old grandfather clock! All in all, a minor inconvenience, but odd.
Underwhelmed.......2007-12-13
I've owned this phone for about eight months and used it on a daily basis. The audio quality is superior to "ordinary" cordless phones, but the range is about the same as my other (non-DECT) cordless phones, and the user interface is poor. When dialing (or entering extension numbers or passcodes), the phone reacts S-L-O-W-L-Y. It will accept digits quickly, but the phone can process only about one digit per second. With relatively poor tactile feedback from the keypad, it's extraordinarily easy to miss a digit. So, hang up and redial -- and the phone insists on a three-second display of the time of the last call before it will even recognize the button that starts a new call. There's something obscene about wistful recollections of those ultra-responsive and -reliable 1972-era Ma Bell specials.
Not your typical throwaway phone.......2007-10-16
I replaced a VTech 5.8 GHz phone with the S450 DECT phone and I'm very pleased with it. The VTech was not effective across a couple of rooms in my house. Note, however, that the VTech did not have the spread spectrum feature, which should improve range. I've had other throw-away phones from VTech, Panasonic, Motorola (2.4 GHz, 900 MHz, 5.8 GHz) and they are all pretty much the same -- designed to fail after a year or so. Batteries are proprietary, and expensive to replace.
The Siemens unit uses two rechargeable AAA NiMH batteries. It is well made and well designed. I'm using it with ATT CallVantage IP phone service. I work at home full time and typically have three to four hours of conference call meetings every day. This phone has very good battery life, especially after I started using Energizer rechargeables. Sound quality is fine -- I use it with a Plantronics headset. With the belt-clip, I can cruise into the kitchen and make coffee while on a call. The phone doesn't cause any problems at all with my wifi network.
Best Phone Ever.......2007-07-02
First of all, I don't understand the person that gave this 1 star. I have tried and returned every other phone I ever bought. But this phone is engineered beautifully. The sound quality on both receive and send is crystal clear. DECT is fantastic because it doesn't interfere with any other wireless frequencies. This is a total full function phone and is even VoIP capable(with an additional module) if you want that. It's expandable with other handsets(I'm about to order one of those). The reception at long distances from the base is also excellent. Now, if you like big huge buttons and heavy phones, this phone is not for you. But if you like modern, stylish, full featured phones with excellent sound quality, etc, then get this. Btw I don't work for Siemens, nor am I affiliated with them in any way, I just like this phone better than anything I've tried, and believe me I've done a lot of research on phones. I've done much more research than I should have had to do because there are so many awful, cheap phones out there. This is a great phone.
