Problematical at best.......2007-07-14
I had a myriad of problems with this unit, including things as basic as setting the clock(easy? try and find it without the manual). It would not accept DVD Rw disks if they had ever been "touched" by another recorder(even if blank). It would not always replay the very recorded disks that it itself had made. It would occasionally miss a recording date and have the next day scheduled, as if today(for some odd reason) just didn't warrant a recording. Most of all, it had a strange logic to its controls and internal commands, neither logical nor similar to the rest of the industry, which has pretty much standardized procedures.
I hate this DVD-recorder.......2007-05-31
Have you ever had the worst day of your life? This one is 10 times worser.
I got this DVD recorder during the holidays. I thought I was excited, Turn out I wasn't. The DVD player itself was made quickly and cheaply. The remote was puny and has rubber keys. and the recorder itself wouldn't take all of the blank DVDs I put in (It would only take the sample disc that came with it). Just one advice for you, DON'T BUY THIS RECORDER! Cyber-Home went out of business last year, so don't expect any more news out of them.
Good for price, but not worth bother.......2007-04-21
This was a gifted to me a year ago. It will record in decent quality (I used it to record kids shows, not really trying to get great recording) but it's tricky and hard to figure out. The remote is small and the buttons are small. Not very easy to use.
My big beef with this is that I can't play half the movies I buy. I have bought at least 3 dvds that I can't play. The machine reads "no disk". I keep thinking maybe I need to find some sort of code, but haven't found anything yet. None of the dvd's I've purchased are bootlegs, so I don't get it. My playstation 2 will play it, but this won't.
If I had paid for it, I'd have returned it.
Absolute trash.......2007-04-09
This awful product is proof that, when it comes to electronics, the cheapest model usually isn't the best model. It's also proof that it's best to get products from a reputable company, like Panasonic, instead of an outfit like CyberHome that's hardly big-name. I got mine in late November of 2005, and it worked great until September of 2006. So far I had only used it to record directly from the tv instead of trying timed recordings or burning copies of things on VHS, though, so I can't speak to any problems that might have cropped up there. Well, after those ten months or so of beautifully recording, it just suddenly began giving me problems. Every 5 or 10 minutes, it would pause recording, even though I hadn't even pushed that button on the remote, or any buttons on the remote, and I would have to push record again. Or it would go straight from pause to stopping the recording, when I never pushed that button either. And of course, that big rectangle was in the middle of the screen while this is happening, blocking my view of the show. It repeated this again several days later when I tried again to tape something. At first I thought I was going to have a disc full of junk, something cuts to ribbons by this constant stopping and starting, but then I found out that nothing had recorded at all.
Strangely enough, it still recorded DVD-RW discs perfectly, even though it suddenly claimed a disc error on all of the DVD-R discs I tried to use. But that didn't last very long either, and suddenly even DVD-RWs are starting to have problems. I'm frankly afraid to finalise any of the discs I have to be able to watch them on real players, hearing how a lot of discs have been lost when this awful machine finalises. And since they can only play on that error-ridden machine, I basically have a lot of discs full of garbage, all of that effort and money for nothing. This machine has even been having problems playing normal DVDs, constantly skipping the picture or making loud noises. It's really a shame, since a lot of the films I've taped are only available on out of print videos or have never been released at all. I'm so glad to find out that other consumers have had these same sorts of problems and that it wasn't just my crappy machine breaking down. I knew it was really suspicious how suddenly all of these discs, from different brands, had errors and couldn't record. Additionally, it also has a rather cumbersome menu and an impossibly small remote.
I'm thrilled to find out that this crappy company has gone out of business and that this crappy recorder is no longer on the market. I've learnt my lesson about cheap electronics from companies you've never heard of before.
Cyberhome is the absolute worst!.......2007-02-28
I can only give you the tip of the ineptitude iceberg:
* DVD glitches at all quality levels
* DVD total failures (you thought you had a month or two of your favorite show - SURPRISE! No you don't!)
* CONSTANTLY puts up a large blue rectangle that blocks all viewing for no GOOD reason: formatting disc; alerting that recording event will be taking place in about 15 minutes; Disc error (always the best); the list goes on and on....
* Incredibly finicky DVD playback - disks must be perfect, which means the ones you record are a crap-shoot as to whether they will play
* I record on this recorder, and then try to watch on my CYBERHOME BRAND DVD player (also an excremental piece of work!) and it RARELY works!
* Your DVDs have an UGLY and inefficient menu that puts 3, maybe 4 'thumbnails' and short customisable text (not large enough to really read) with huge ugly Cyberhome logo everywhere... you have to go through page after page of these to find what you recorded (IF it bothered to record)
* You have to finalise all DVDs before they have a CHANCE at playing on anything else - and that finalising procedure (takes forever and you can't see or hear ANY television meantime) is where 70% or the total failures happen. Coaster. No explanation.
* especially on the low quality setting - any music on the film or show is nauseating ... sounds like an old school stretched and damaged reel-to-reel or a science class film from way way back in the day
* setting up for recording events is seriously user-hostile
I could go on and on. I curse this thing several times a day (can't afford to replace it yet, but when i do - i'm going to go OFFICE SPACE on this piece of garbage!)
I do NOT work for a competitor, i just have two Cyberhome DVD and DVDr units (they are goldstar-cheap, without dollar-store quality) and neither one is worth the space it takes up.
Please - for sanity's sake - move along to a better item, and boycott this company forever, like i will!

It's still ticking!.......2003-11-12
I absolutely LOVE this phone. I have had this phone for over 3 years. I have dropped the handset numerous times. The battery flies out... I put it back in, and it still ticks. I have taken the phone outside and weeded the garden, left it in the rain... it still lives on. I have abused this phone to no end. The latest tragedy, I was again outside, left the phone on the side of the driveway, hubby came home and RAN OVER THE PHONE with the mini van. He pushed the phone back together, (it had cracked some) and the puppy still works great!! It's true! lol There is a crack in the body of the phone, but I have no problems with reception or anything. If you are looking for a phone that you can abuse and get great reception. This is the one you are looking for.
I LOVE MY SONY PHONE and would recomend this one to everyone. Great great great phone!
Bought several copies for around the house.......2003-04-05
In order to have the same caller id and dialing functions, without learning new commands for different models of telephone, we bought a total of three Sony SPP-ID975 telephones, to put in the home office, in the living room, and in the family room.
Terrible Phone.......2003-03-22
When I purchased this phone I thought a Sony was a good product and the phone wasn't a cheapy. However the phone CONSTANTLY channel searches/found channel which breaks up your conversation and you can't hear. Sony said when this happens to move closer to the base but you could be standing 1 foot away and it does it. Whats the purpose of having a cordless phone if you can't leave the base?? Called Sony CS Support and because it was no longer under warranty they gave me some troubleshooting to try. One of them was to replace the battery which was done and didn't help. I will never purchase another Sony product. I don't believe you get what you pay for with Sony. Do not recommend this phone at all. I know 3 people that have this phone and the same thing happens to them also.
bad from begining but keeps getting worse.......2002-12-04
i've had this phone for a year now. when i first started using it the phone had problems with dropping calls. i would be standing 20 feet from the base and the phone would indicate "out of range" the sound quality is aweful. the phone picks up every bit of background noise and even in normal situations it can be difficult to hear the person you're talking with until the volume is at an irritatingly high level. the battery has been chincy from the start but has continually degraded to the point of uselessness. the vox on the speakerphone occilates, cutting you off at times in mid-sentence, you have to be completely quiet to allow the other person to speak (dropping a pen on the table switches the vox over to me, but then it randomly goes back to the other person a minute later)
the phone is also bigger than it should be (both the base and the handset) the range is not improved over any of the analog 900mhz phones i've used.
Great Phone!.......2002-01-25
After reading some of the reviews here, I was hesitant. My old Sony ID910 was having its own problems, with the LCD losing entire rows of pixels. But I loved it otherwise, and still wanted a 900 MHz phone which wouldn't interfere with my 2.4 GHz 802.11b computer network. The ID910 always had great range, the digital 900 MHz quality was great, I wanted a speakerphone, and I needed Caller ID. The ID975 was one of few choices.
Thank goodness! I haven't had any problems with battery life, scrambled directory entries, or reliability. The range is at least as good as the ID910, and it still charges an extra battery (the same T23) in the base. Best of all, it improves many annoyances of the ID910: The handset is much lighter. The 3-line LCD display shows both the Caller ID title and number, so you can try to figure out who it is even if Caller ID doesn't know. The jog wheel makes a user manual completely redundant - I've never even looked at the paperwork, but had no problems entering speed dial numbers or changing the ringer. There are two bright red LEDs on the base unit which indicate if someone has called, and if you have any messages (I'm guessing it listens for a stuttering dial tone when you're not on the line).
All is not perfect, however. Where the ID910 handset had no real external antenna, the 3-inch extra at the top of the ID975's handset is a step backward. The extra battery charging in the base unit cannot power the base unit during an outage, as the ID910's could. And while the New Call and Message LEDs on the base are very nice, there is no indication on the handset of either. Sony still won't let us control the volume of the ringer. It's either style 1-4 or off (0). But these are minor issues.
Overall, I'm very happy with this phone. I hope I don't need a new one until cordless phones and WiFi are no longer competing for the same frequency space. With 2.4 GHz phones becoming popular, good digital 900 MHz phones (most are analog) are becoming hard to find!

Quack Device.......2005-07-20
Folks, this is nothing more than a sticker with a design on it.
It can in no way, and does in no way improve reception at all.
They were selling these for $20, now I see they are down to $1, and even that is a rip off, unless you are a collector of quack devices, in which case, you must have this for your collection of quack devices from this century.
I am keeping mine in it's bubble package and display it on the wall near my test bench.
One day these will be worth something as collectors items, but don't get one beleiving that it can actually do what it claims, because that is physically impossible.
