Poor Photo Feature .......2005-12-03
I bought one of these units back in March from online Wal-Mart. The picture quality for DVD's was excellent. The sound was good too and it had many features not found in other competitors. I really started to like this unit a lot until I placed the CF card from my digital camera into their card slot. Again, the picture quality was excellent when in full screen mode. When viewing in thumbnail mode, the pictures were quite blurry. This was okay since I wouldn't normally use this mode anyway. What really turned me off was the slide show feature. Each picture is displayed for 30 seconds regardless of the picture's resolution. There was no button to force advancement to the next slide or to alter the time slice. This was unacceptable and the reason I returned the unit.
Initial DVD player.......2005-10-28
When I got this DVD player I thouht it was great, the features are nice and the i/o ports are many. After about 3 weeks the super sensitive switch that shuts the lcd off when the lid closes started shutting the screen off even when the lid was open, the weight of the white plastic pin held the switch down. Then the next week the hinges gave out, they are solid metal hinges anchored to very soft and brittle plastic, very annoying.

I have a Powerbook G4 with a 17" display that I was using to play DVD's. I thought it was too big and the battery life too short. I decided to purchased a dedicated portable DVD player. I was pleasantly surprised by the workmanship and the quality of the unit. I would highly recommend this player. I recommend the 10" screen.

The IDM-1250 does have an A-B repeat mode to it, and what I like is when playing cd's you can keep the screen closed,and the advance buttons and pause and play buttons are on the front,so you don't need the remote to change to different tracks.The picture is just as good as the Philips with 12bit video dacs,and you get the added features of the multi-card reader and USB port.The sound is not bad as far as voulme through the built in speakers,but like other players using headphones makes quite a difference.I would recommend this player to those who like a larger screen portable,as a side note it will read dvd-rw in the vr-mode.

We bought this unit to replace a Polaroid that gave out after about 6 months. Fortunately we had purchased the unit thru Target.com with the $30 extended warranty so we got a full refund of our purchase price.
Initially (no pun intended ;-) I was concerned about some of the comments I had seen from other reviewers. Ill address them individually below.
- The comment about having to always select dvd or usb or card isnt present on my unit. It does prompt when you first turn it on, but without selecting something other than dvd it quickly defaults to dvd and just starts playing the dvd.
- The comment about large jpg's freezing the unit. Well I guess it depends on what your definition of freeze is (and Im also a little unclear how your 20D had a picture on an SD card given the 20D has a compact flash slot). On my unit I have taken the SD card straight from my canon S500 (7.1 Megapixel) and put it in the player and looked at photos. Granted it takes the unit awhile (ie. read slow) to read in the large photos from my camera but it does it without crashing the player etc.
- The build quality of the unit seems much more rugged than the polaroid it replaced so it appears to be a good unit, but unfortunately with portable dvd players the true test is the test of TIME.
Overall the reason we bought this player was because of DIVX. My daughter is a Wiggles, BluesClues, Hi-5 junkie. I record all of these shows on the Tivo (in Best Quality), transfer them to my PC, run them thru DirectshowDump, then thru the Divx encoder. I can get nearly 40 shows onto one DVD when they are all DIVX and the quality is just fine.
Ill revise this post later if the device dies an early death, otherwise if you dont see a post from me you can safely assume that it is still running without incident.
I purchased this unit thru Target.com which has Amazon as the backend processor. The unit arrived very quickly and with good packaging as Ive come to expect from Amazon.

Called Motorola's service hotline after I saw others having the same issues with the handsets that stop working. I was told that there's a 1 year manufacturer's warranty and that if I give them all my serial numbers, they can verify the dates for me. I have the receipt and I know when I bought them....well over a year ago. I have the MD 481 base unit that came with an extra handset and purchased 2 md 41 handsets. 2 of the 4 phones' keypads have stopped working correctly.
Didn't have the luck of the other reviewer who is getting new handsets...and that's after I rattled off all of the different Motorola products I currently own.
Nice phones...when they work.
Waste of money!.......2007-11-20
Well, from the beginning these phones have had little nuances that have turned into larger ones. Motorola replaced the batteries under warranty back when they first started acting up, stating the batteries were the problem. Put the new batteries in and it helped for a short time.
Recently, you have to hit some of the buttons multiple times to make them work and the caller ID screen quit working. I called motorola, and that stated because the phones were out of warranty there was nothing they could do. They told me to clean the key pad, and/or buy new batteries to fix the problem...which is not the problem.
Oh well, some companies still stand behind their products, motorola apparently isn't one of them.
I've been through so many different phones the past few years, and all have ended up malfunctioning in one way or the other. I just wish someone would make a quality product.
Great phone, easy to use.......2007-09-06
Let me start by saying that I am pretty picky about phones and have owned quite a few as a result. I'm the guy who stands in the aisle of the electronics store picking up each and every model, giving them all a test drive.
That said, I have owned this set (the base + max extra handsets) for several years now and I couldn't be more pleased.
I have heard complaints of button problems, but have not had a single issue myself. According to several other reviews this problem was apparently fixed by Motorola so I guess it's a non-issue at this point.
As for my experience, these phones have great range- I can go anywhere in my house and even out to the mailbox without any loss of signal. I also love that each handset has a built-in speakerphone, as opposed to just the base. I also really appreciate the phonebook features. You can either store numbers to a specific handset's book or to a shared book available to all handsets. If you have a family this is really convenient!
As for battery life, since some reviewers have mentioned this, I'll say that battery life is definitely NOT an issue. Out of four handsets I have only had to replace one battery pack and only paid a couple of bucks for that replacement. As for the "per charge" life of each handset, we easily get a couple of hours of non-stop talk time (days of stand by) per charge. If I do happen to be on one of those occasional marathon conversations and the battery begins to run low, it is quite easy to switch over to another handset (or the base unit speakerphone). The trick to extending the life of any rechargeable battery pack is to occasionally let the battery drain completely and fully recharge. Even if you do that, though, you will eventually need to replace a pack no matter what brand or model of phone you buy.
All in all, I love these phones and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I bought these phones about 12 months ago, and the batteries are already dead. The cost to replace the battery is about as much as getting a new phone.
Keypads fail.......2007-07-14
The MD400 series phone has great features - phones work great but, the keypads fail. I have had to replace (2) of the (4) original units and (2) of the units are acting up now. The keys will not work - it seems to be random - sometimes its a #key sometimes it the on/off key. Searching the
internet I found that this is a typical problem with these phones. I am looking for a replacement and I am stearing away from Motorola because of this problem. I don't know if the newer MD700 series has the same problem I have not been able to find any reviews on the units.
