Carry the convenience of caller ID, call waiting ID, and instant voice mail access with you in the handset of a 900 MHz cordless phone. The Panasonic KX-TC1701 offers timesaving features in a compact package for your home or office.
A lighted, three-line display window on the back of the KX-TC1701's handset back shows callers' names and phone numbers, including area code, giving you choice and security when taking incoming calls. If you are already on a call when another comes in, the KX-TC1701 displays the waiting caller's ID information in the window. The caller ID memory stores up to 50 phone numbers; you can scroll through them using up/down search buttons, edit them, and call back a stored number with a one-button command.
The handset back also includes a voice mail indicator light that flashes when new messages are waiting on your voice mail service (an optional service from your phone company). You can access your voice mail instantly with a one-button voice mail command that is located just below the handset keypad.
We tested the KX-TC1701's cordless performance in our usual testing environment and found it satisfactory, though less desirable than some similar 900 MHz phones. The signal was strong until the handset was about 60 feet from the base; at this point, the signal became distorted. The sound quality, using Panasonic's Sound Charge Plus technology, was superior to most cordless phones, however.
Panasonic's Ultra Charge capability lets you complete the KX-TC1701's initial battery-pack charge in just four hours. The battery charge lasts for nearly eight hours of talk time or for up to 21 days of standby. Other features of this phone include last-number redial, memory dialing, and one-button direct dial commands. For convenience, the handset volume and the ringer volume commands are easily accessible, located just below the handset keypad. The handset locator/pager, unlike some other phones we've tested, does produce a beep loud enough to be heard above other household or office noises.
Overall, we think the Panasonic KX-TC1701 provides satisfactory cordless performance while delivering features that are desirable for any busy home or office phone. --Bryan Taulbee

I really love this phone. I've had it for a few years and have never had any problems with it. No lost calls, no charging problems, nothing. This phone works great.

Ditto other poor reviews. Worst problems with phone is that you can't hold phone between cheek and shoulder or it will terminate phone call. Wife wants to throw it out. Also battery life miserable...keeps telling me it needs to be charged after receiving a full charge even though it has a new battery. Otherwise has some good features.
Don't buy this phone.......2002-03-20
I agree with the comment of hitting the on/off button when talking. This phone also does not hold a charge for very long. I could live with these faults but not the one I'm experiencing now. The phone will not charge at all. I'm about a month out of the warranty and this phone will not charge when put on the base. The battery is almost dead and I'm going to have to throw the phone away. Useless. I would not recommend this phone.

I've read the two prior reviews for this product and decided to write this review simply to let folks know that I've had this product for about 6 months now and it works beautifully. I enjoy the caller ID functionality, the capacity to store 50 speed dials, the instant voice mail access, and the quick charge. I agree with the editorial review that the product works best around 60 feet from the docking station but that works just fine for me in my house. I've dropped the phone pretty regularly and it is quite durable as well. In my book, it's a good phone at a good price and I'd buy it again.

I can relate to everything the other reviewer said! I've had exactly the same problems with this phone. If you talk with the phone too close to your cheek, it presses against the on/off button and you lose the call. I've lost several calls that way and by accidently pressing the buttons on the caller ID side of the phone (the back). I also had problems with the phone not keeping its charge. I thought the phone was defective and returned it. Had the very same problem with the second one. The longest I've been able to talk without recharging it is 1-1/2 hrs. Called Panasonic and they said I hadn't set the phone up properly so the base would recognize the handset. Reset the phone per their instructions and had the same problem again. I'm about to replace this phone and throw it in the trash where it belongs! Because of this experience, I'll NEVER buy another Panasonic telephone!!! I'd discourage anyone wanting to buy this phone. It looks like a good deal, but it's not. I bought it on sale, too. Now I know why!

I purchased a new battery for my cell phone, and am not very pleased with it. It doesn't seem to hold a charge very well, even though I followed the instructions explicitly, and thoroughly charged it then completely discharged it at least twice, as directed. I'm limping along with it for now. Don't really want to pay top price for a battery on an old phone, but not ready to replace the phone yet either.

Purchased 2 batteries to replace 2 that stopped working after a year (the ones that came with the phone) but that seems to be the case with all cell phone batteries I've had that come with the phone. The two batteries I bought are working wonderful with no problems. Received them very quickly in the mail. Thanks for the quick shipping.
