I liked the look and features on this phone-but it was made cheaply and never worked right for me. It would malfunction and not ring, just go straight to message. It disconnected when I was talking. Had to return it.

All in all this GE phone gives Uniden and other popular phones a run for their money. I needed a cordless phone with answerer and speakerphone in the handset and wanted to keep the price low. This GE did all those things and has 5.8 GHZ technology besides. Only con I could find with the phone is the speakerphone is not as loud as I would like, otherwise this GE is a bargain.

GE Edge Cordless.......2007-09-15
We've used VTech, Uniden, and AT&T cordless phones in the past and have been satisfied. The GE Edge is truly awful. The two cordless phones had extremely poor reception... we could barely hear calling in and out. The phone attached to the answering machine was the only good one but who wants to be tethered to the base?
Terrible product. We replaced it with a Uniden set.
Static!!.......2007-09-10
I bought this phone just last week and I have to say I am very disappointed. I have had cordless phones for a while now and this is the first one that I have had that is getting so much static, even though the base is less that 50 feet away from the handsets. I have the base in my bedroom and when I use the handset in my dining room, there is so much static that I can't hear the person on the line. Also one of the handsets did not ring until I switched cradles. Then I have been seeing strange messages on the handsets like "line in use" even though the other phones are seated in their cradles and off. Also the ring on the handsets is very low and I couldn't find any way (I read the manual) to raise the volume. Needless to say I am going to buy a different brand.
GE Brings BAD Things to Life.......2007-08-12
This phone was a bad choice. We've only had it a few months, and we're already having problems with it. The handsets don't transfer, so if you get a low battery beep in the middle of an important call, you're going to have to hang up and call back with the other handset. Then the answering system started hiding messages! Someone would leave a message, but it wouldn't show on the unit, and it wouldn't play until the next message came in. If it's several days later, you may have missed an important message. Then, even though you know it must be there, you have no way to access the new message until a new message comes in. Who knows what will go wrong next?! We can't take it back to the store, but we're going to replace it anyway -- this phone is just too unreliable!
Poor quality, bad service.......2007-08-06
This unit arrived with a bad battery that would not charge. When I contacted GE, I was told the the battery is not included on the warranty and I would have to purchase one on my own. I emphasized that this was an item purchased two days before my call, to no avail. GE told me I could return the item to Amazon.
Also, during the call the customer service person told me we had a bad connection. I told her I was using the second handset of the system I was calling about. All she said was "Oh". The phone's voice quality is poor, static is high, and the speaker phone worse than than any cell phone I have used. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I got this repeater/AP 2 days ago, and I got lucky because I made it works within less than 30 minutes. I could be because I am in the IT field for more than 5 years. :)
Anyway, the configuration is really straight forward. All you need to do it login to the access web page with the default 192.168.0.30 and pick the wireless access point that you want it to boost the signal. The important step that I would say many people forget to do, is to change the repeater(DWL-G800AP)IP address to talk to your network. For example, if your network is configured with 192.168.1.1, then your repeater must be set to 192.168.1.XXX in this range. In order for it to talk to your network, they both must be in the same network class. I hope this helps a little bit.

The product never worked, even after three calls to tech help. Tech help even changed my computer settings and it took me a while to reconfigure it. I returned the product, and advise anyone not to purchase it.

would not work with 624 D-link, even after several phone conversations and hours on the line with dlink technicians. the techs couldn't offer any solution beyond what was written in the instructions and worse, they clearly did not care whether it worked or not -- they could not wait to just tell me to ship it back to amazon where I bought it from so they could get off the phone... it was disgusting.

I did not have the set up issues the other reviewers mentioned. In fact, I followed the instructions of one reviewer and my set up was smooth and simple. Problem was the PC I was trying to obtain better high speed access on did not pick up the extender any better than the DI-624 router.
How to get the G810 firmware loaded.......2006-02-14
I too bought this device hoping to configure it as a bridge, but with the firmware loaded it wouldnt work. After hearing the G810 firmware worked, I tried it out but got a checksum error, but it is possible. You must first load the earliest G800 firmware, reboot, and then load the G810 firmware. Now everything works great.
