Simplify your home theater with the DVP-NC675P DVD Player. Features include a 5-Disc DVD/CD Changer, DVD+RW/+R Playback, JPEG/MP3/CD-R/CD-RW Playback and Precision Cinema Progressive Technology.Amazon.com Product Description
Simplify a little: use Sony's 5-disc, DVP-NC675P/S DVD player as your one-point source for your favorite movies and music. The player gives you all the convenience of a carousel changer--continuous playback, play exchange, dual-format DVD/CD performance--as well as quality features like progressive-scan outputs with Precision Cinema Progressive technology and cool enhancements like Sony's Precision Drive 3 system for playing damaged discs. The DVP-NC675P/S plays just about any disc out there, from DVD-Video to DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW, in addition to playing digital JPEG photos and hours of MP3 music from files burned to CD-R/CD-RW discs.Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DVP-NC675P/S stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs through Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive deinterlacer (scanning) with 3:2 pulldown processing. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
Precision Cinema Progressive technology uses a 12-bit video DAC (digital-to-analog converter) with 54 MHz processing to detect image changes at the pixel level, rather than at the level of whole scan lines. That makes this player's picture more faithful to the source--whether film or video--because it uses separate, optimized algorithms to handle different pixel behaviors. Separate algorithms are also used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts.
DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; 3:2 reverse pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. Composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television.
Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can also be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each of RCA coaxial and Toslink optical) for a simpler connection to a compatible AV receiver (but be aware that digital-audio interconnects are not supplied).
Precision Drive 3 provides a mechanism for reading DVDs that are in less than perfect condition, eliminating errors in playback due to imperfect, scratched, or warped discs. Past generations of Precision Drive technology were only able to compensate for warped discs by moving the entire optical block, which took more time and limited the amount of correction possible. This newer system simplifies the process by moving just the lens (instead of the entire optical block) for faster and more accurate error correction.
As soon as you hook up the DVD player, a special Quick Setup screen appears ready to guide you through configuration, step by step, screen by screen. DVD resume memory kicks in whenever you stop a DVD. Later, when you come back to it, the player will pick up right where you left off before. The player holds resume points for up to six discs.
Other playback features include 10-second instant replay, DVD/CD Text display (with applicable discs), a digital video enhancer, digital video EQ (equalization), custom parental control memory for 40 discs, as well as Advanced SmoothScan and SmoothSlow Modes.
What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, 2 AA batteries, a stereo analog audio/composite-video interconnect, a user's manual, and warranty information.

Phone does not hold its own - degrades quickly.......2002-08-23
Dissapointing.......2002-07-17
The battery life is great, but the other features of the phone are poor. The handsets don't share saved phone numbers. Changing the volume of the base station ringer requires resorting to the manual. The sound quality is poor. Pushing the wrong buttons happens frequently, you will accidentally hang up on callers. Incoming calls aren't silent even with ringer turned off. The base unit can wake me from bed side table with ringer turned off.
Hand set speaker phone is loud and works alright.
For the most part..........2002-06-05
I have another panasonic that is a bit older with features that are better, such as programming your area code so that local calls will come through locally w/caller id, so you dont have to scroll through a menu to call back a local number.
Another problem w/ both phones is that after a while you have to fiddle w/ the phone and base unit contacts to get it to charge correctly.
If I had a wooden house, Im sure this would get a five-star rating, but you know how it is.
I also think think this phone is identical to some uniden brand, you will get the same results out of other brands as well
Very Good Phone loaded with features.......2002-04-26
*The Base DOES have an additional battery charger.
*As with most phones with caller ID, you can dial before pressing the Talk button
*You can communicate with the base or the other handheld units in the house. No need to yell calling people to dinner. You can also transfer the call to the desire unit (base or any of the handhelp units)
*Alphanumeric memory (store names and numbers from the keypad or from caller ID data)
*Headset compatible. This is great if you are cooking or doing activities involving you hands (Do get a handset)
*Very good range and clear signal. In my experience with this unit I have found no problems with clarity or range of signal. It has been quite impressive despite the fact that I placed the base next to my desktop computer.
Cons:
*2.4 Ghz. Yes, if you have wireless networking there may be interference (I don't). Plus you tend to pay extra. The 900 Mhz DSS offers pretty much the same range and security. If they had this model in 900 DSS that would have been my choice.
*Wall mounable: yes, but awful! The unit doesn't rest against the wall. The adapter to the base, so it can be on the wall, is in the back, not the bottom of the unit, so it looks like a shelf
*The speakerphone in the handset is not as terrefic as the one in the base, but it works better than other speakerphones in uniden bases tha I have owned. It is great to use it when on hold
*Somewhat pricey. The [money] rebate is quite nice though
*It doesn't have a dedicated mute key. You have to look at the screen to to activate the right multipurpose key
Bottomline: it is a phone system that is expandable, it has worked extremely well for the first 6 weeks. I give it 4.5 stars and I do recommend it.
