Sony's second-generation transport design includes Active Tilt Control, a Dynamic Focus system and an Advanced DSP Servo system for superb tracking of disc imperfections. Also has High-Speed Stepping Motor for fast track and chapter access. 96 kHz/24-bit Audio D/A Converter maximizes DVD and CD audio performance capability, providing smoother, less digitized transitions, and richer sonic texture. When using the DVD player with only two front speakers, Virtual Surround Sound technology creates a surround-sound effect by incorporating a portion of the center-surround information into the left and right stereo signals. DVP-S360 uses a 32-bit RISC microprocessor for superior scan quality in Frame Advance, Slow Motion (at 1/10 and 1/5 speed) and High-Speed Search (at 2X, 10X and 30X speed) - all in forward and reverse. A refinement of SmoothScan processing allows for enhanced slow speed performance in forward and reverse. CD Text Function displays song and album titles on TV screen and on Front Panel Display.

Sony's DVP-S360 DVD player is built on the patented Precision Drive system with Active Tilt control. It features a 10-bit video digital-to-analog converter with 27 MHz processing, and 96 kHz, 24-bit linear PCM decoding. The player is Dolby Digital and DTS compatible; just hook up a Dolby Digital and/or DTS-equipped audio-video receiver and five speakers for digital surround sound. Furthermore, Digital Cinema sound modes let you match the audio with the type of movie you are watching. Your favorite action movies, musicals, and even comedies will come alive in surround sound.
The set of component-video outputs (Y/PB/PR) will provide impressive color fidelity if connected to a TV with the appropriate inputs. Additional connectivity options, including two S-Video outputs, two composite-video outputs, one optical digital-audio output, and one coaxial digital-audio output, enable the Sony DVP-S360D to accommodate almost any home theater setup.

But a closer look reveals some modern technology including a decorative dial that functions as a push button for tone/pulse operation as well as a center medallion that serves as a redial button. The contacts with the personnel involved with this purchase could not have been better.
The only complaints I had were that the wrong part was sent, but that was corrected later with the shipment of the correct part. The time I had to wait for the part on back order seemed excessive, but all is well in the end.
