very nice item. works well. caller id is a plus. grat item and fair price.
Nice phone, but has problems.......2007-11-15
I just got the phone a couple days ago, and it's a nice looking phone with pretty easy to use features. The handset is solid and the keypad is comfortable. I like the lighted buttons in particular. The caller ID actually works unlike my last Panasonic phone that only stored the missed calls and didn't display the number after I picked up. The display is easy to read and using the 4 lines is very easy and intuitive.
Unfortunately I think I may have to return the unit. The problem the other reviewer mentioned about the delay in dialing is indeed irritating, but not a deal killer for me. The problem I have is that the Panasonic KX-TCA60 headset I had worked fine for my other panasonic phone, but the mic didn't work on this one. Tech Support pointed out that it's not on the list of compatible headsets for this phone. So I bought another headset that is listed as compatible. (both have standard 2.5mm jacks and are both Panasonic brand) The new headset works, but only with a mid level hissing whistle sound whenever in use. I tested the new headset on another phone and there was no problem.
I work on the phone all day and need to type and move quickly on 3 computer screens all at once. I HAVE to use a headset. And I don't want to go crazy with a hiss in my ear all day.
Also, using the speakerphone didn't work all that well. We had to sit close to it and talk into it for the caller to hear us.
The last thing I'll try before sending it back is to put a backup battery in it. The display constantly shows "Low Batt" since there was no 9 volt included and I haven't gotten one yet. Maybe, something in the circuit needs that battery even when plugged in to work properly. Yet another little irritation.
Keypad has Annoying Delayed Response to Key Presses.......2007-08-25
Panasonic has a design flaw in this unit, which is unfortunate, as it is the best looking 4-line corded phone on the market and is otherwise an excellent phone. The problem is that once the hook is released (or you switch from from one line to another) when you then immediately get a dial tone, it takes approximately an additional 1.5 seconds for an audible tone to be heard from any number keys you press. You an easily press anywhere from 4 to 6 keys during this lag period, during which time you hear nothing. Then it catches up and starts dialing, although still at a slower rate than which you originally pressed the keys. Our our four lines, on the first three we kept our original, trusty FIOS lines, and on the 4th line we put a VOIP line. Same problem all lines. We had another jack where we had plugged in a new Panasonic 2-line phone (KG-TX6700) and the phone worked normally to key presses. We plugged the 4200B into the same jack, but the same delay as before occurred. We bought a second 4200B - same problem. We believe the problem probably exists on the 4100 and 4300 phones as well.
We went out a then bought our less preferred AT&T 4-line phone (Model 974) and it worked like a charm. The Panasonic problem exists on at least two types of phone networks - Verizon's FIOS (fiber optic) phone lines, as well as on Verizon's VOIP service trademarked as Verizon Voicewing. I am not sure if the problem exists on the old copper line networks, but if you try this phone, be sure to test it.
The other thing to test is how you use this phone. If you typically pick up the phone and don't dial until the phone is at your ear (i.e. as opposed to dialing immediately with the speaker phone), then you might not see this as a problem, as it takes about 1.5 seconds to get the phone off the hook and up to your ear, and by that time, the dial tones will respond immediately. However, even then, if you switch back and forth quickly between lines to get a quick dial tone - then you will have the problem.
Otherwise, great phone, but re the above - buyer beware.

SMC's new TigerSwitch 1000 is a Gigabit Ethernet backbone switch that provides 8 full-duplex 1000BASE-SX ports. With 16 Gbps of bandwidth, this switch dramatically improves the performance of congested networks. A host of advanced features and comprehensive management capabilities make this device a potent solution for the network core. The TigerSwitch 1000 provides high bandwidth, high-performance connectivity within and between workgroups, and increased capacity for server farms, giving users faster access to network-wide resources. Moreover, the 1000BASE-SX fiber optic ports support connections up to 550 meters (1800 feet) in length. The TigerSwitch 1000 comes fully-loaded with advanced performance-enhancing features. IGMP maintains available bandwidth by limiting multicast transmissions to subscribers only. Broadcast Storm Suppression prevents broadcast traffic storms from engulfing the network. QoS priority queuing ensures the minimum delay for real-time multimedia data across the network. Flow Control eliminates the loss of packets due to bottlenecks caused by port saturation. Port-based and tagged VLANs are also included to provide traffic security and efficient use of network bandwidth. The TigerSwitch 1000's integrated SNMP management agent supports 4-group RMON with in-band and out-of-band connection options. The Web-based interface means that the TigerSwitch can be managed at any time from anywhere, removing the limitations and costs associated with a fixed management station. A comprehensive set of "at-a-glance" LEDs display information about the system (power, RDP, and mgmt), port status (flow control, full-duplex, and activity), and link activity (speed, link, and disable/partition).

Great for an aging Mac.......2007-09-07
Success! I picked this up just the other day for my 2002 Mac G4 dual processor "Quicksilver" tower (running Tiger). Officially, only the old-school Apple Airport card should work on my machine, but after reading the several reviews from fellow Quicksilver owners praising this item for it's covert compatibility, I decided to give it a shot.
It was so easy, even for someone who doesn't fiddle under the computer hood ever. No software to load, just popped it in the slot and the AirPort utility recognized it immediately and automatically as a new port on startup... it picked up the signal from my Belkin router, and I was online immediately after a quick visit to the System Preferences. Thanks for saving me valuable time and money, Belkin.
Belkin+Mac.......2006-12-26
I installed it into a Rev A. PowerMac G5 without a hitch. As soon as I installed Tiger 10.4 (the original release version from the 1st DVD, without updates) the Airport assistant started right up on 1st boot and allowed me to join my wireless network. Got it for 50 or so at Wal-Mart. I put the computer 1 floor above the router about 60-80 feet away under a desk. The box lists 700 feet distance, however I'm thinking that would be unobstructed wireless distance. I am getting a little less than half bars with my current position, the data speed is very acceptible.
If you are a Mac user and want to use this product, you should know a few things first. The box did not list Mac OSX compatability at all. For your card to work, you need to make sure it has Broadcom listed in the ©opyright section on the bottom of the box. Also, this card did NOT work with Mac OS 10.2, however I cannot vouch for 10.3.
Mac OS X 10.4.8 user takes note..........2006-11-06
The box design on this site is old. The new box design has green bar instead of red as you seen here. I got mine from Walmart for $50. They also have the $35 one but it may not be Mac compatible because it doesn't say broadcom under the trademark. The $35 version (Part # F5D7000), with red bar design, is a "G" version and it is not a 125 High Speed Mode. The $50 version (Part # F5D7001), with green bar design, is a "G+" version and it is a 125 High Speed Mode. 125 High Speed Mode is a trademark of broadcom. My QuickSilver G4 (2002) recognizes the card, the "G+" version, instantly and it works with Airport version 4.2. I don't know if it runs on 125MB or not because I don't have the Belkin "G+" router. But it works on my Buffalo G54 AirStation on 802.11g (54MB). My "G+" hardware card is version 2000 (it says on a sticker outside the box).
Do not install the utility.......2006-07-21
I followed the installation instructions as written and could not get this device to work. In the end, I had to uninstall the configuration utility and just load the driver. After letting XP handle the wireless management, I was able to get this to work without hassle.
For the price, I'm impressed.
Belkin Wireless G Desktop Network Card is a MISS!.......2006-02-17
I bought my Belkin Wireless G Desktop Network Card at Wal-Mart for $35.00 about three months ago. What a mistake! The card keeps shutting off no matter what I do. The only way that I can get it to work (for awhile) is to literally "play around" with the buttons on the splash screen until it decides to come on again. It will stay on for awhile then shut down again. Ok, so let me call the Belkin phone number (on the box) and find out what to do. Well the phone service is nothing but a bunch of meaningless taped messages which can't solve anything of substance. Pure frustration! There is NO real live PERSON to help you! Ok, So now let's try their e-mail troubleshooting service. I send them an e-mail explaining my problem and hurray, I got an answer right back...Only it was a computer generated message telling me that they were really very busy and I was in line for the next technician available. That was two weeks ago and I am still waiting!
I would suggest that anyone with a modicum of intelligence stay away from purchasing Belkin products until they get their product service act together. If you have problems, there is NO WAY you can get them solved. If this is the way they treat their customers. or I should say, DON'T treat their customers then you should stay clear of Belkin. If there is no way to contact them for product problems then simply don't buy the the product. Stay away, I've given you fair warning!
