Another great attribute of the GMR1038-2CK radios is their hands-free operation, which is made possible by a user selectable Voice Operated Transmitter (VOX) that can be used for automatic voice transmission. Transmission begins when you speak into the optional remote headset for snappy, hands-free communication that is both safe and efficient. The large number of channels and privacy codes give you several communication options that ensure you can almost always talk with your friends and family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal. Plus, the channels are easy to find, thanks to the channel scan feature, which browses to active channels while you watch the display. And the channel monitor function listens for weak signals on a given channel with the press of a key.

Bought this pair to go with another set of earlier models we have.
What a waste of time and money. Uniden should be ashamed of themselves!
Oh, they work just fine, but the rechargable battery life is ABISMAL!(sp?)
After less than four hours of hanging on my belt, with all of ten minutes of transmit time, the "low battery" warning beep goes off, and the battery gauge shows "all gone"!.
The older set we use will last thru a ten hour shift, no problemo!
Ah well, live and learn eh?

we got 2 sets of these at ubermart and tried them out first. they didn't make it past 2 miles in an area by a lake with little residential.

i bought this product for short distance communication. it is said it could work up to 10 miles, however, in my area it can reach out less than 1 mile. partially, it may be due to my area is hilly.

I received mine in a generic ziploc bag also, and about 2minutes after i plugged it in the cigarette lighter outlet, it started smoking real bad and the adapter itself got very Hot. I got it to work for like 5 minutes at one point, but the sound quality was so bad i took it out and plan on returning it back..... SAVE YOUR MONEY for something that actually works correct, and will not burn your car up.

Honestly, the orders (I ordered two, each order made days apart from each other) just arrived and I have not tried it out yet. I am pretty sure the items will work just fine. I am giving it a bad review because not only were the items so different from the picture posted, the two items are not alike in any way, and none of them were by SkyTech as indicated! One looks generic and came in a ziplock bag (but the other one was more professional in wrapping)!
