Audiovox's VBP500 portable DVD player and car kit, also known as the "DVD player in a bag," comes with everything you need to take your movies, music, and digital photos on the road. Plug the unit into your car cigarette lighter to conserve batteries, listen to audio through headphones (not included), or listen through your FM radio using the kit's built-in wireless FM transmitter. Handy straps facilitate back-of-seat mounting, and there's even a rugged carrying bag to tote it all. Want more? It also comes with a wireless remote control to manage playback from anywhere in the car.

The VBP500's main features include a 5-inch LCD with a standard, 4:3 aspect ratio, DVD-Video playback, and compatibility with homemade CD-R/CD-RW media filled with either MP3 music files or JPEG images (digital photos). You can also use the player as a monitor for an outside source--a camcorder or gaming console, for instance--and hook it up with your home stereo and television (input/output cables provided). Repeat playback and parental controls enhance viewing and listening.

Other features include built-in stereo speakers, picture zoom, slow motion, and compatibility with multiple viewing angles, audio tracks, and subtitles, depending on the media in question.

Very durable. Solid. The picture is ok deepending on what angle you tilt the screen. It's made so that in case it drops, it won't break. The battery doesn't hold a charge for too long.
As long as you use the car adaptor and tune the FM radio to 88.7, you will get instant sound throughout the vehicle. That part is great !

I have had this player for about two years now and have not had a problem with it. My kids play it constantly and the thing is built like a brick. Once fully charged, it will play for about three hours before the battery goes dead. It has been great for vacation trips. The only thing that has avoided me giving it five stars is that the little plastic hook that latches the top when it closes snapped off when I was cleaning it. Other than that, it has taken a lot of handling, traveling, and wear and tear and has kept right on working. It has been a very reliabe unit for us.
