Great HDTV.......2007-12-25
After considerable shopping around for a couple of months, I finally settled in on this TV. What a great choice it was! Setup was simple (as the TV walks you through your preferred color choices and palettes right after it comes on for the first time), user options are easy to use, and the picture is terrific!
I also purchased an HD DVD player and the picture depth and sharpness is outstanding! I have to say the Ambilight is nice, but don't recommend the Dynamic setting, but there are plenty of other options to choose that makes the image easier on the eyes.
EXCELLENT HD TV.......2007-12-17
This is a great product. The ambilight feature is great. I was simply blown out by the picture quality of this unit. Made a lot of research at CNet and other sites and everywhere I found good reviews about this product. Currently I do not have an upconverting DVD player, using a SONY progressive scan single-DVD player, but still the performance is amazing.

This TV turned out to be even better than expected. We needed to get a new TV because our 4 yr old Toshiba rear projection just died on us. Went to Best Buy looking for the Samsung plasma but ended up getting this instead. We are very happy with it. The picture is amazing and we get more HD channels than we did with our Toshiba for some reason. The sound quality isn't great but then most Tv's are hooked up to a sound system anyway so that't not an issue. The picture quality and ambilight feature makes up for it. We are very pleased and hope to get a better run with this one than we did with our Toshiba.

My husband and I bought this TV a little over 5 months ago and it fantastic. The picture is crisp and clean. No dead pixels. No glare problems. Easy to hang on the wall with a standard wall mount. We didn't expect anything from the Ambilight feature, but I must admit it makes watching TV easier on your eyes. It can be turned off if you do not like it. There are plenty of inputs for your gaming systems, etc. PS3 games and Blu-ray both look outstanding.

From the moment I saw this AmbiLIGHT flat screen TV, about 3 or 4 years ago, I know I wanted to get one. Two months ago I bought one. I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. The picture quality is great and the sound matched with the home theatre system to go along with it is phenominal. Thank you Philips for creating such an illuminese product. I would recommend this for anyone who loves to watch bright vibrant colors displayed in expension behind the TV.

I have never had a high opinion of Velodyne subs, but recently got to play with this one at a local Tweeter and came away pleasantly surprised. The bass was very tight, quick and accurate --- I should note that it was positioned in a corner (optimal for maximum output) and the listening room was only about 10x12, so don't know how it would sound in a bigger room.
For its price of half a grand you could get the Internet-direct Hsu VTF-2 or SVS PB10 shipped which would probably outpower and outclass it, but if you are unreasonably leery of buying online sight unseen despite the reams of glowing professional and consumer reviews out there on those 2 makes, you could do far far worse than this Velodyne.
It does have a remote which I must admit is a very attractive feature that the two Internet-direct models I mentioned above do not have, plus is more compact and attractive in appearance, and has a remote control that the others don't. However I would be very surprised if it could go as low or as loud, so if you are looking for powerful kick-in-the-chest deep bass during your movies, those other 2 would be a better deal. For music listening the Velodyne would probably have an edge though, it's very tight and quick.
