Shoddy construction and inaccurate picture........2007-12-12
Recently, I've been having problems with charging my Samsung N400 phone. I have a charger with a single prong that fits into the phone base. Unfortunately, the socket of my phone is rather loose and sometimes the charger doesn't make a connection.
I purchased this charged because the picture showed a multi-pin plug to fit in the alternate interface on my phone. I required this interface since my single prong socket was loose/damaged. The charger I received does not match this picture as it has the traditional single prong. Granted, it does work for the Samsung N400, but doesn't match the product picture so in a sense was falsely advertized.
Secondly, the plug that goes into the cigarette lighter has a lead post that is sprint loaded. This ensures it makes contacts with the cigarette lighter recepticle. However, this lead post presses into the charger head and does not spring out; it sticks. In other words, it doesn't make contact with the cigarette lighter socket and therefore doesn't conduct electricty to charge my phone.
False or inaccurate advertizing coupled with shoddy construction left me very disappointed with this purchase.
I would not recommend this product.

Range is OK/Pretty good.. By moving my access point things improved.. But.. I received a spotted soccer ball painted adapter, not the blue one that is being displayed. This would be OK if it weren't that my range could be improved by moving the adapter to a better place where I would have to see the adapter.. Point is.. show the one that you are selling. Otherwise .. not bad. I am a fan of Trend!!

Does exactly what it says it does. The only thing I don't like about it is the cap. USB devices with caps are annoying because the first thing I usually do is lose the stupid cap.
Works on Vista RTM.......2007-05-31
I didn't install the companion CD; just plugged in the device and Windows Update found the drivers and installed for me. I just want the basic connectivity and this did the trick.
I'm using it as a backup as my Toshiba M5 Notebook with the Intel 3945ABG card is so poor, in terms of buggy device drivers under Vista, that this acts soley as a backup.
However, I'll be trying out the Hotspot locator as well.

The installation was a little weird. The driver didn't automatically load like the guide said, but I did it manually and it works in the end. The reception is pretty good, but of course I placed it in a nearby room. Overall, a good little device.
**UPDATE** Well, 5 months into owning this thing and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. I've NEVER had a dropped connection (hopefully this review won't jinx it!). I'm gonna buy Trendnet again for my next PC.
