I work as a sales associate in Kmart's Electronics Department, and last night when I saw this nice looking TV just sitting in the back at the super low price of 210 dollars, I thought I had found a real bargain! My parents needed a new TV for their living room, so I figured I'd let them know about this one. They told me they had more important things to buy right now, so I decided to just buy it for them, figured it would be foolish to pass up such a great deal.
Boy was I wrong... After getting this home and looking it over, I found that this TV is practically useless!
Since this TV only has an Analog tuner, I'll have to buy a converter box for it if I want it to receive over the air broadcasts after Febuary 17th 2009! Also, I was under the impression that this was an HDTV, but it can only display an image up to 480p resolution, that's not High Definition, infact, it's just barely Enhanced Definition!
This TV might be okay if all you plan to do on it is play video games and watch DVDs, but with such low resolution and only an Analog tuner, it's almost useless for TV viewing...
You'd be better off spending a little more on a High Definition TV, or quite a bit less on an SDTV. (Standard Definition TV)
As for myself, I'm going to return this TV for a better one...
Sweet LCD TV.......2007-04-09
I own a number of TVs, and though this is not the largest, or the highest resolution, it is the sweetest. This thing actually seems to imporove the quality of any picture I send it. DVDs look stupendous (go component input and yow!), and even old VHS tapes look better. The screen is much higher resolution than regular TV, and is, admitatedly just inside the range necessary to be technically considered HD compatible, but it does it's job well. Many newer sets like this exaggerate static and dropouts making the pitcure snowy... but not this baby! If the set lasts, I have a new favorite brand! G'bye Sony Trinitron, Hello Olevia LCD! I can't wait to get home to watch it!

I thought the picture was very clear for regular tv and crystal clear for HD tv. You have to get the right equipment to connect your box to the flat panel, but its worth it, particularly since the tv is relatively cheap to begin with. The hookups are great, and the contrast is right there with the big boys...1600 to 1.
NOT HDTV.......2006-10-30
i dont care what the box or this ad says (or the kmart ad, or the staples ad) it is not hdtv - it is etv - there is no option to change the aspect ratio or screen format [480i or 568i max (whatever 568i is]).
it might be great for dvds (didnt try it), but i packed it back in the box about 15 minutes after i hooked it up - spend a little more and get a true hdtv tv - thats what i'll be doing in the next 2 hours.
Don't By Syntax TV's as Christmas Presents!.......2006-09-06
I purchased one and gave it to my daughter in the factory sealed box, and Syntax denied the warranty. Warranty clearly states that it is only for the 'original purchaser'. (And yes, I tried calling everywhere, short of an attorney).
