So far, looking good. Great deal at the price.
Even my 23-yr old techno-elitist son was very impressed. He was very cynical before it arrived, but by by the time we set it up and ran through cable feeds, DVDs, console games and computer games, he was impressed (and jealous).
A. Lots of inputs = good, except lots of cables.
B. Remote = good, except lots of buttons.
C. Aesthetics = good, except one rubber pad came loose.
D. Caution - Check it before the delivery folks leave. Our first one delivered was delivered damaged horribly (in transit) but return / replacement was painless.

Love this external drive!.......2007-12-28
Much better drive than the failed 500GB Western Digital My Book drive I replaced with this Maxtor. Dual USB/Firewire interfaces, 750GB capacity and five year warranty are real pluses. Bundled backup software installs easily from drive itself but software functionality and feature set is fair at best compared to commercial packages like Symantec's Backup Exec System Recovery. While not a major consideration for me, this drive looks really cool. This drive does not have a power off/on switch so look elsewhere if that's a requirement for you (I leave my external drives powered on 24/7). This is my 5th Maxtor external drive and all have been better that numerous other brands and generics I have tried. Each Maxtor external drive generation seems to get better than its predecessor. I hope Seagate's purchase of Maxtor doesn't screw up their product line. Highly recommended if the bundled software isn't a major reason for your purchase.
Maxtor is just OK.......2007-12-27
Its a lot smaller than in the pictures, which is a plus. Its also really cool looking and study. But, it takes a while to find the files (even though I have it partitioned into two different drives) and you can hear it reving up and searching. It makes my G4 Mirror Drive Mac Tower do the spinning pinwheel thing, when locating files on the drive. I was going to use it for editing video, but I think I'll just use it as a big storage device now.
Other then it being too slow and dragging when its accessing files, it looks cool, has a lot of room and I only paid $199... so it was a great value.

I bought the Maxtor One Touch 4-Plus 750GB a month ago from BestBuy, have it on 24x7, love it so much that I bought a second one from Amazon today. I could buy the Maxtor One Touch 4 750GB for $20 less, but I prefer the silver cover look of the Maxtor One Touch 4-Plus over the all in black color of the Maxtor One Touch 4.
Pros:
1. Weight: Only 2.5 lbs for 750GB (698GB actual free space).
2. Size: Very slim, it doesn't take much desk space. It sits on my bed table along with my laptop nicely without taking a lot of space.
3. Temperature: Cool to touch even have it on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
4. Noise: Very quiet. Hardly hear it running.
3. Speed: Very fast. I can watch large movie file directly off the hard drive without any hiccup or delay.
Cons:
1. Maxtor Manager s/w kicks-in at start-up: Run hijack it will take care of the problem permanently. It worked for me.
2. Light: Power light is a bit too bright. Cut out a stripe of 2 post-it notes (use the sticky part) and paste over the one touch button will solve the problem. I used purple color post-it notes, and it gives out very nice soft purple glow at night.
