Great But.............2007-12-03
I bought this TV in August 07 after about 3 months of research, got it at a really good price after price match, but 3 months afterward, i was watching a show and all the sudden i saw smoke coming off the "vent-hole" behind TV, and the picture went away and TV was just flickering, luckelu when i bought the TV i had a service plan added to it, but it will take about a week and a half for a tech to come to my house for repair, i am very much hoping to just get a replacement and be done with it but we will see......
TV is great i do believe i got a lemon unit,A good advice is to get a surge protector to use with the TV, for those who wonder i was using a surge protector at the time of TV going down.
Overall a great TV especially watching Blu-ray and playing PS3 games on it.

I've owned this TV for 2 months now and it is great! The picture is awesome, especially when you can utilize its full-HD capabilities. It doesn't necessarily have all of the fancy features that other TV's have like picture-in-picture, cableCard, or lots of menu options, but when put to the test, this TV will impress!
A quality 1080P TV.......2007-11-29
LG is well-known in Asia and is afiliated with Philips Electronics. They made the most durable cell phone I've ever owned, the C-2000. My experience plus the Consumer Reports recommendation why I made my HD conversion with their new 42" TV.
I've had excellent results with HDTV programs on this set. 1080i programming is nothing short of amazing. You have to get an HDMI cable- a simple $25 cable from Fry's really helped to minimize pixelation during HD sports programming from my Comcast cable box. A DVI to HDMI cable hooked up to my computer's video card allows me to view online programs and Netflix streams in their full HD glory.
Out of the box settings were oversaturated for most programs, a little manual tinkering while watching HD channels worked wonders. There are a lot of customizable options to achieve your ideal picture. You get 2 customizable user settings in addition to the standard ones.
The remote is nicely laid out with easily accessible picture settings. Once you finish customizing, it's only seconds to change to your preferred format for any program. One caveat- it does not recognize Motorola cable boxes nor is it well suited as an universal remote.
Standard definition tv was disappointing, but paying $600 more for a Sony was just ridiculous. The 480p upconvert from the cable box made it more tolerable.
I do not yet have a HD-DVD/Blu-ray player, but will post the results after the industry decides on a standard.
Overall- I highly recommend this TV. Expect a decline in quality of standard programming (most non-major network shows). The trade-up to HD programs will leave you dreaming in HD.
LG Is A Rip Off -- Product Stops Working After 45 Days!.......2007-11-26
Purchased an LG TV on strength of recommendation from friend. TV worked fine for 44 days. On 45th day, picture disappeared and then came back only intermittently. LG takes position that its only obligation under warranty at this point is to schedule service for several weeks out. Answer should have been "Sorry, we will of course replace it." So, if you're looking for a TV for 44 days and don't mind spending a thousand dollars, this is for you. Otherwise, I would try a different brand.
My first HDTV and I love it.......2007-11-14
After seeing HDTV in my friend's house, I have to get one. After two days of quick research, I settled on this TV for the brand name (we have several LG cell phones) and the reasonable price. I bought it online so it is about $200 below national chains. It took about five days to arrive. I hooked it up and let it scan with the cable. It got all the analog but the CADTV side seemed to get some channels with pictures and sound go in and out. I seemed to recall a Comcast brochure stating the local HD channels are provided for basic limited service. I have basic extended service so I should get those along with the analog channels. The two splitters installed by the builder (before using Comcast)have markings 5MHz-800MHz and 5MHz-1GHz. I moved`the cable around to bypass the 5MHz-800MHz splitter and finally got two good HD channels, ABC and Discover, with the clear QAM tuner. Other channels went in and out. Suspecting this cutting off the high frequency for the HD channel, I bought a digital splitter (5MHz-2.3GHz) from Home Depot with enough out connectors to replace both old splitter. Wow, got very clear 20+ unscrambled digital channels with seven or eight HD channels including ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS and Discovery. Pictures with the HD channels were fantastic, and just perfect, even when you are close to the set. To watch Std. Def. channels, you have to stay about ten feet away, then it is just as good as the other 50" Hitachi analog TV I have. The LG replaced a 27" in the sunroom. Now I have the urge to replace the Hitachi also in the family room.
I also hooked up the PC secondary monitor output to the RGB terminal. Played Netflix "Watch it Now". I got the full 1080P resolution and the picture from the internet streaming is very close to HD. Picture is as clear as HD but the color is not as vivid. Of course, this must be due to some compression necessitated for internet streaming. As a PC monitor, its white is whiter and the black is blacker than my CRT monitor. Fonts are crisp and sharp. I have to turn up the volume for the sound, but I believe this is because of the inadequate sound strength fed by the PC. The sound is very clear even I turned up the volume to 2/3 of the volume bar.
I hooked up an external hard disk to the USB terminal. With the MediaHost, the pictures which were from 5M and 12M digital cameras have never looked as good as on this TV. Color is at least five times more vivid than the computer monitor. The pictures have more depth. Details on the big monitor just stand out so much better. This is the best way to show digital pictures, but expect a delay of the TV responding to your clicks on the remote compared to using a PC, another way to show pictures.
The regular DVD player also shows better picture with the component input than the analog TV. I have not used HDMI inputs in this one week of ownership so I cannot comment on that.
I am sure there are other HDTV's as good as this one, but now I think the LG TV is just perfect. I read many comments complaining about the inability to adjust pictures and audio. Acutally, if one uses USERS setting instead of the predefined ones, one will be able to adjust just about everything.

Not the best.......2007-11-26
Went to a big box store today, and toyed with getting this model, since they had a floor model they were offering at $300 off.
After watching it for a while though, I couldn't bring myself to buy it, since the picture quality was just not as good as Samsungs and Sonys.
You can get a 46" Samsung 4661 for a lot less than this model, at current prices. And Samsungs all look great, even the cheapest '61 model.
Excellent 1080P HD TV.......2007-05-19
I have only previously owned an LG home audio system and it was awesome. I came across this TV and for the specifications it has I could not pass it up. I am coming from an older 1080i Westinghouse 30" to this FULL 1080p LG 47" and it is a HUGE step I must say. I have not had any problems and the picture quality is outstanding! Here are a couple of my personal highlights:
- 1080p via HDMI for my XBOX! ***Also acccepts 1080p via component & VGA.
- 1080p for HD DVDs via XBOX add-on!
- I can finally recieve 720p/1080i broadcasts!!!!!
I also recently bought the higher end Samsung Blu ray player and it is amazing!
**** Just for the record though, I honestly do not see any quality difference between Blu Ray and HD DVD. Even with using the XBOX HD DVD add-on against a stand alone Blu Ray player....the quality is equally awesome!

Great concept, poor implementation.......2007-05-01
I have twice in the last year bought the Convertible 5G Black. The first time was an outright purchase and the second time was an exchange.
In both cases, within 2-3 months of use the iPod skin begins to deteriorate and tear. This leaves tiny holes/tears in the skin and areas where the outer layer of the skin has rubbed off. The hole around the headphone jack exhibits tiny tears as well. The clip on the back of the skin, which interfaces with all attachments, has given wear so that the attachments at times loose their hold and the iPod drops.
In both cases, the tracks on the clip have splintered leaving a skin which no longer locks the attachments into place. If the clip were metal I believe this would have not have been an issue.
I have difficulty attaching the lanyard attachment to the clip as well, it pulls the skin away from the iPod and is a very tight fit.
I purchased this item mainly for the use of the arm band, however in its tightest fitting, it is still slightly too loose for my arm.

I bought a 3rd gen ipod used and it came with a sportsuit. I was really impressed with the case. When I bought a new 5th gen, getting the Sportsuit was a no brainer. Unfortunately, that was stolen out of the car. I got an 80g for Christmas, and the first thing I bought for it was a new Sportsuit Convertible. It fits great and has a bunch of really useful add ons.

This product is actually not for the Nano, it is for the iPod Video. The description is incorrect. It's a great carrier for my iPod! With it's help, my iPod can go anywhere. I searched high and low for just the right holder, not wanting to limit myself to one only for working out or only a belt clip. This one fits both bills, and it appears to protect the iPod very well. I'm very satisfied!!!

The case definitely serves its purpose; with its flexible plastic shell covering the face of the iPod (click wheel, video screen, and everything in between) and its soft, flexible neoprene covering, it protects your iPod from outside scratches. Heck, I've even dropped it more than once, and it came out scratch-free..
However, it is VERY tight-fitting; I found it almost impossible to fit on the iPod. Thankfully, you don't need to remove it when attaching it to the adapter; just pull back the covering that folds inside the bottom.
The case itself seemed to scratch my iPod; As soon as I received my iPod, I kept it in the case. However, there is a hard plastic shell on the back with which you can attach the sports band and clip. When putting the iPod on, or removing the clip and such, I found it caused minor scratches on the back (a few, but very much noticeable).
Also, the soft plastic shell drove me insane; it kept on sticking to the surface of the iPod at random places, and I'd have to peel it back off. This wasn't a very good design; it looks rather cheap, and frankly, it is. However, it gets the job done.
The neoprene covers the hold button, and has a small, crude hole for the headphone jack (which is a bit tight).
Thus ends my rant on its flaws. Perhaps some of you didn't experience these nuisances, but I did. Aside from that, it does its job well; it protects completely; it comes with a clip, sports band, and various other attachables; it is soft and easy to hold, and it is easy to access the click wheel. Frankly, it hits a lot of requirements while most cases prefer to specialize in one. A good buy overall.

While browsing for a case for my new Ipod, Amazon asked me to vote on which of two cases I liked best. I clicked on this one to learn more about it, but that was read as a vote. Oops. Be careful when you look at their polls.
In reading of similar products, many, many people complain about clear plastic covers scratching. However, they also complain about thicker covers being hard to handle. I would probably cut out the offending part with a razor blade, and buy the adhesive clear cover to attach directly to the Ipod in its place. This would also protect the Ipod when being pulled in and out. However, this case has a bigger plastic piece and probaby couldn't be done this way.
I think a side-opening cover is inconvenient.
I've seen a clear acrylic hard case after use. It is a terribly scratched up item.
Remember that you may have to remove your Ipod from its case to use a dock like Ihome, etc. This action can scratch the Ipod. Many people have written this sad news.

When I got this item Today, I thought it was a good product. When I went to go put it on it all ready had been scratched! The case I bought 1 Hour ago was scratched and was impossible to get off. When I finally got it off, the dust on the inside of the case had scratched my Ipod Video. It was even worse scratched than before.
Do not buy this product it scratch's your ipod.
