Excellent Product.......2007-08-23

This bluetooth works great. The volume level is superior to any bluetooth I have had before. I can even use it while I am driving on the highway and hear the person very well. It fits very nicely in my ear, and I don't even have to use the earhook. I have had other bluetooths that feel like they are going to fall off my ear even with the earhook. That is not the case with the Blue Ant X3, with the earhook there is no way it can fall off.

Not good for Skype.......2007-01-11

I bought this to work with my Skype account. When everything works as it should the headset is alright, but not exceptional. When it doesn't work I miss calls, get error messages, and scramble to figure out where I should be talking, and pushing buttons like crazy trying to figure out what it takes to get to bluetooth headphone heaven. I eventually gave up and bought a Plantronics wired headset.

Adjusting the headset volume was hit or miss and impossible to do when in the middle of a conversation. I accidentally hung up a couple of times trying to increase volume. Also, the sound from the earpiece would leak into the microphone if the the earpiece was not pushed snuggly into my ear canal.

I don't get enough phone calls throughout the day to warrant wearing the thing all the time, so when a phonecall came in I would have to go through the annoying process of getting the hook fitted around my ear and the earpiece firmly planted in the canal.

The biggest problem was that it would take a few seconds to come out of sleep mode once a phone call came in. Sometimes the device would actually be off (which it did on its it own) and I would have to turn it on. But I never knew what state it was actually in. The whole process turned from a convenience into a frustraing experience. Then I would have to apologize to the caller for all my hassles.

The sound quality wasn't worht the hassle. What I was hearing was average. People on the other end of the line said I sounded fine but that I sounded like I was in a tunnel. So I would end up shouting, hoping that would minimize the tunnel effect.

The device is light, and you don't really notice it when you have it correctly installed in your ear.

If you don't like reading manuals or figuring out what all the flashing lights mean then this is definitely not for you. This is not a plug-and-play device.

My advice for casual Skype users, either get a wired headset, or a dedicated wireless VOIP/Skype handset.

Sound is lacking.......2006-12-09

The headset is remarkably clear and pretty darn small. I like the multiple charging options and the ability to pair with multiple bluetooth devices. The sound clarity is EXCELLENT with one problem, it's not loud enough! When adjusted just right (basically resulting in you needing to hold it in place), the clarity is perfect on my end and on the other end. But walking around, or driving, it shifts and it's hard to hear whomever you're talking to. Great for people at a desk but bad for those on the go.

I was so excited to try this headset.
It is a nice small size, easy to carry and the charger is very cool becase it can connect to car lighter, USB or regular outlet. The sound quality is good. Unfortunately the earbud is too large. I had read this comment in other reviews that said if you have small ears this may fit too tight. I have average ear size and found that after wearing for 15 min my ear was sore. I ended up returning it and purchasing a Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset which I am thrilled with!!!

+ Lightweight, weighs less than a pound !
+ Foldable, can be easily packed in a backpack or purse, even a large 3 ring binder can hold them
+ Battery powered, decent battery time, we get at least 12 - 16 hours of usage off 4 Duracell AAA's

-- CONS --
- The AAA batteries will drain even if you don't turn it on, we went on vacation for a week and inserted a fresh set of batteries before we left. When we came back the sound started fading then they drained in less than 30 minutes !!
- The power switch, when in the Off position an orange section of paint strip is exposed, red and orange normally means "ON" but not in this device.
- Bass is really distorted, but what do you expect from speakers so small, treble is decent and has to be maxed out before it starts to sound tingy.

I wanted a set of iPod speakers which didn't require AC power, like these because they have decent output for something the size of a medium size cucumber. Use them all the time, you can tell when the batteries are getting low because the sound sounds notably distorted, almost like a weak radio frequency.

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE PICTURES, THE SPEAKERS FOLD WITH A SCISSORS LIKE ACTION and can be left in a horizontal position to fit almost anywhere !

I'd buy them again if I had to replace it.
