Great base sounds.......2007-12-08
I hooked these headphones up with a standard TV through an amp setup and the volume control wasn't working well. Now I hooked them up but the amp is plugged into a new HDTV and these headphones are phenomenal. I can't believe the base they pump out! Compared to my old headphones, the external sounds are very easy to hear. If my wife talks to me I can hear her plainly even though the volume I'm hearing is much louder than she's hearing from the TV. You couldn't possibly get a better headphone for this price. All the naysayers are trying to get Bose quality on the cheap.

These are the best headphones I have ever owned. And therefore the cost versus quality is fantastic.
I have a coworker who has a pair of the over-the-ear Bose noise canceling headphones and I think these have a better, true to life sound.
For the price, how can you go wrong?

The head set sound was good/The cord is ridiculously long and get in the way. The head set stopped working in one ear phone within one month of purchase. Very poor product. I bought it to go with the philips mp3 player for my daughter. The mp3 player is great not the headset.

Good for the price. Long cord is ok. The jack is not gold-plated so the sound is not that great. I need to pump up the volume of my MP3 player so I can use the volume controls on the wired headphone.

The right side head phone did not work since I opened the package.
Another piece of junk from China produced for Philips! Now I am stuck with a product which I can't use and now I am figuring out how to get a replacement from Amazon as I was gone out of the country for 30 days. With this product I bought a Sennheiser ( again Made in China) and it works good. German quality better than Dutch. Avoid Philips product at all costs

Was given this item new as a Christmas present. Was initially impressed with it's light wieght and speedy data transfer. However, after using it for only a few minutes, it began making a clicking noise and got excessively hot. Now neither Windows nor Linux will recognize the unit, and it continues to click and burn up.
Great product for the first 5 minutes, but presumably, it's reliability isn't that impressive. Go with another brand.

Power-UP Problems.......2003-10-10
for laptops this needs an AC adapter that is not included. For my desktop computer I boot my computer and it doesn't recognize my mouse for WindowsXP... If I hit restart a couple times before the screen appears it then works fine. I assume this has something to do with the lack of power. It is inconvenient, but I gues it works fine.

I agree with the comments added, yes it does us non-standard cables, which can prove frustrating if you didn't know ahead of time. Once I found that out, I have had no problems using a wheel mouse with the switch.
I have noticed that sometimes the hot keys don't register so I have to switch by hand, but still not a major problem...even when running all four machines through it.

Purchased this with the expectation of full use of what is now standard 3-button/wheel mice (PS2). After neither an XP nor an NT4 system booted with mouse support I sent an email to Hawking Tech. Support. Their response was "We can only guarantee full compatiblity with 2 button mice. -- Hawking Technical Support (CH)"
The product is being returned... my search goes on.

I earn my living at home programming and writing about programming. I have two desktop computers and a laptop on one desk. I set up server configurations in both Linux and various flavors of Windows. I bought the 4 port switch and an extra set of cables to control this mess with one mouse, keyboard and monitor.
This setup works flawlessly. The mouse wheel works as before. Although the switch has a button to change the focus to the next system, I use the hotkey sequence because I have the switch and its cables tucked behind the monitor. The hotkey sequence works no matter what OS is booted. This includes floppy-based DOS utilities such as PartionMagic. Operation is so transparent that I sometimes forget and try to copy-paste between systems.
I would recommend this low-priced switch to anyone.
