Undisruptive Late-Night Gaming.......2007-12-22
I was shopping for either headphones or an optical-to-stereo miniplug adapter that I could use with the XBox 360, and my research led me to the AX360s (which contained both of the potential things I was looking for). Frankly, I assumed the surround and rumble features were going to be gimmicky, but the price was low enough and the reviews around the web were consistently high, so I decided to make the leap of faith.
My first impression straight out of the box, before tweaking any of the settings: Expectations completely blown away! Holy cow, these things are GREAT! The surround sound doesn't work as well as a 5.1 speaker setup, but having the discreet channels with individual audio controls at your fingertips is awesome! And the rumble feature! WOW! It gives the feeling of bass without the actual bass- who knew that could be so effective?
Now when a grenade lands near me in Call of Duty 4, I have a pretty good idea where it is in relationship to where I am... and being able to hear people sneaking up on you is worth the cost alone. My game has definitely improved. I've also watched a few movies, and I'm loving the pseudo surround sound experience- often a problem with DVDs (even on the stereo mix), the voices are drown out by the sound effects and music, well now I can turn up the center channel and actually hear people talking again!
Not sure what the complaints are with the MS Live setup, as I can hear my friends, and they seem to be able to hear me as well. I haven't had any troubles in that department- just a simple adjustment in my Live audio preferences (I actually had to turn it up- I've read that some people had to turn it down?). Too many wires? Well, there's a power cable from the amp box, the optical cable that goes to the xbox, the cable for the actual headset, and a wire that goes from the microphone to the controller. That one mic wire might be the kicker. When the headphones are used with your PC's analog soundcard outputs, you'll only need one splitter cable (also included).
I liked them so much, I ended up getting a second pair for my friend as a Christmas present... so, yeah, I recommend them!

The Tritton True 5.1 Digital Audio Headset with AX360 Audio Xtreme 360 is an absolute must buy. With the standard free shipping they arrived in 1 business day. The headphones are very comfortable and feel fine after hours of use. Rather than having bass, they rumble just like a controller. This rumble feature is just as good if not better than bass, because it works almost the same way bass does,through vibrations. The sound quality is excellent. The wire to the receiver is more than 9 ft long and should not be a problem for anyone. Watching movies and playing games is great. I looked to the left when a vehicle drove by my character when playing on Xbox Live. If you cannot have speaker surround sound in a room, or need to be quiet this headset is a must buy.
My mic connector wire did have a problem, although the mic worked. I was able to reach Tritton tech support with little wait time on the phone, and they were very helpful and said that they would send a replacement mic connector wire right away. Also, the instructions on how to hook it up are a little tricky to comprehend, but you can call tech support and they'll help you if you need help.
Overall a great buy, but hard-to understand instructions and a malfunctioning cable stopped this from being a 5 star review.
No good for Live.......2007-12-08
If you enjoy playing on xbox Live then these are pretty much worthless. Even when i turned all the in-game volumne almost all the way down, i could barely hear when people were talking. Very annoying. You would think that with five volume controls that they would have included one for voice, but they didn't. For me, total waste of money.
Not good for computers.......2007-11-28
I bought these headphones in order to get surround sound for my computer games. These things are GREAT as far as comfort and sound quality, and the included mic is also very nice. But for my computer games, the 5.1 surround would not work. I talked this over with tech support and apparently it works for playing DVD's, which I have tried and it DOES work for this, and sounds pretty good. But it is a big let down when I spend $100 only for the main attraction to not work in any game, even with all the tweaking I have tried. It is definitely more for the Xbox 360.

As good as it gets! Worth every penny. Great sound, Great bass, Great everything!! I ordered another set for a backup on XBOX Live! I have a friend that has a set that had a wire get cut. It was his fault, but Tritton sent him a replacement overnight for no charge. Great Customer service.

I purchased this PC card to connect an old Vaio laptop running Win98 ver.1 to my new DSL router/switch.
All I had to do was unpack the PC card, slide it into the card slot on the laptop, and pop in the diskette so that the Win98 could find and load the card drivers.
After one re-boot -- which took longer than the card and driver installation -- the machine started up and immediately recognized the card and online connection.
I was not only surprised at the painless installation but pretty pleased at the low cost of the card. Everything worked as advertised.
A few things to watch out for which may affect the installation but has nothing to do with the card itself:
1) Remove any old PC card drivers which are no longer in use
2) Reset your browser setting to it's default configuration if you know changes have been made previously
3) Don't forget to reboot your machine after installing the drivers so that your OS can recognize the newly installed driver software
This is a simple card that works as promised -- happy surfing!
Kiss that Dongle Good Bye.......2002-10-18
I wish I would have gotten this card eons ago. I had a 3 Com card that worked fine but the dongle was always a problem and after replcing it three times for a few bucks eack time I decided enough of that nonsense and not being able to shift in my easy chair for fear of breaking the connection or the dongle I purchased this card. A breeze to set up on WINME and has all the other OS as well on the floppy. It fired up immediately and has never given me a problem since. I especially like the 6 different LED's in place to let me know the status of my network. I think any card that doesn't require a dongle is a good bet...I just got this one because I have had good luck with other hawking products and the price was hard to beat at 20 bucks after the rebate.
