Very Nice Drive.......2007-12-18
This drive is built solidly. It has an attractive aluminum case that matches my iMac. It spins up quickly and isn't too noisy (it's fanless, uses a heat-sink instead for cooling). Only time will tell if it stands up to normal day-to-day use.
Better Than Expected.......2007-07-23
I took a great deal of time researching external hard drives and opted for the G-Technology G Drive. With Mac OSX, it's plug and... well, that's all. The 250 GB that I purchased approximately four months ago was not the lest expensive hard drive out there (the price has since come down), but it is definitely worth the extra bucks. My unit has been running pretty much non-stop since I received it, smooth and very, very quiet (look Ma! No fans!) and under an array of different situations. Whether in an air conditioned environment or not, the G-Drive hasn't shown any change in its performance. Now that I've tested the waters with this unit using it for Final Cut Suite (elements and scratch disk), I'm adding a 500GB FW800/400 which according to G-Tech, can be daisy chained as each unit has two FW800 ports. If the 500GB unit is half as good as the 250GB, I'll be twice as glad I chose G-Technology.
