beware of this product if you have an intel based macintosh, i have a g5 at my work and an intel core duo imac at home, the hard drive works perfectly fine with the g5 but it can't be connected to the intel one, it looses the connection a few seconds after,
also performs erratically if connected to a g4. apparently only works fine with g5's

Works great,I would recommend for the money. Beware the usb cable is only about 18", if you have to plug it into the back of a desktop for usb power, it can be a little short

My system only included 1 USB port, and I use a USB hub to connect all of the other peripherals.
This unit came with a cable with two USB heads, which I thought was suspicious. Sure enough, plugging it into the hub gave it enough power to light up the LED (it flashed to indicate something was wrong) but not enough to spin the drive.
Since the unit didn't come with an auxiliary power supply, and my whole intent was to be USB-powered, I had to return it.

The Network Management Module (NMM) provides the heart of the management system. It features a 32-bit, high performance RISC microprocessor executing a real-time operating system. It supports the SNMP protocol and is capable of controlling and managing up to 16 managed chassis. The NMM features a serial port for initial configuration, a front-plane or a backplane Ethernet management port and a pair of multi-chassis management ports. Management can be accomplished In-Band via the backplane Ethernet port connecting to an adjacent 10/100 iConverter thus supporting direct access to the NMM via the operational network. Out-of-Band management can be accomplished via the front-plane Ethernet port facilitating a secure management network.During normal operation the NMM polls all converters and power supplies within its domain each second, collecting status and module information as well as setting required parameters. It reports its collected status via the SNMP protocol to the management software. The NMM is password protected to prevent unauthorized access. New module software updates to the NMM can be downloaded during normal network operation via the serial port while preserving existing module parameter settings. Microphone volume too low and can't be set.......2006-10-22
Short answer: The microphone volume on this is set too low relative to the speaker volume, and cannot be adjusted independently--either through the device or at the O/S level.
I spoke with tech support, and they said this was to keep the echo-cancellation software from having issues.
So as a speakerphone, this device is useless.
I'd have given it one star, but the rest of the device is actually very well designed, easy to setup, and so on.

The Good:
Speaker quality is good, as is the Skype integration with the LCD display.
The Bad:
Microphone volume cannot be adjusted, outbound voice is useless.
The Ugly:
The lack of tech support on the product. Support is outsourced to people who are unfamiliar with it, and there are no drivers available on Kensington's website.
My initial review was an insane rant due to the frustrations I had with the product and the lack of competent technical support. This product had 4-5 star potential because of the LCD display and Skype integration, but first and foremost, I want a speakerphone that WORKS as a speakerphone, which this product evidently is NOT.
I returned it and bought the Polycom Communicator through Amazon, got it the next day, and the Polycom JUST WORKS!
