Purchased this from ANTOnline and find their marketplace easy to use with a wide variety of hardware not readily found at other locations. Easy DIY installation. This was a 40GB increase for a very reasonable price. Although this specific product has been discontinued, retailer remains a good start point for locating hardware online.
Works fine - using it in an enclosure........2007-05-09
I bought this drive as a replacement for another Toshiba 100GB 2.5" drive; I "cannibalized" that drive from its enclosure as an emergency replacement for a dead laptop hard drive (a Seagate, if anyone wants to know).
While it's too soon to say for sure how the drive will hold up, it seems to work well enough in a bus-powered USB 2.0 enclosure - as a removable - for now. =:o)
The old drive - which was almost identical to this one - is working well in my laptop; I'll venture to say that it gives better performance than the original Seagate.
[That Seagate was 2.5", 100GB, 4200RPM. I think the old Toshiba - like this one - is 100GB, 5400RPM; it also has a 16MB on-board buffer. I think the Seagate had a 8MB buffer - and given that "silicon's much faster than iron," wise use of cache memory can greatly improve the overall performance of a machine. =:o) ]
