I bought these for my 19-year-old soon-to-be-stepson as they were on his birthday wish list. He plays guitar in a band and goes to concerts and wanted an earplug that would block out excessive loudness but still allow him to still hear. The first time he used them at a concert he was delighted with the result. "It's the first time I didn't wake up with ringing ears after going to a concert. They are so great!"

High Fidelity Ear Plugs/filters
I play the trumpet in several bands and when I get stuck in front of the percussion section (particularly snare drums), earplugs are a necessity. I own a half dozen types of plugs, and they all block the sound, but they also muffle and distort it. These plugs simply lower the volume with a minimum of the muffling effect, so they are perfect for musicians in loud groups. Very comfortable, quick & easy to insert or remove.
They also seem perfect for concerts. For example, when Arturo Sandavol, the trumpet virtuoso, appeared locally, he used what must have been a 10,000 watt sound system. These ear plugs allow you to enjoy the music when a clueless sound engineer turns the volume three clicks past painful.
Note: Etymotic Research ER20BP High Fidelity Ear Plugs and Hearos High Fidelity Ear Filters are virtually identical, other than color variations.

I bought a pair of these based on great reviews, however I was disappointed. The plugs aren't very comfortable for long wear, and I couldn't hear people's voices well in a nightclub/concert setting. So, I'm not actually using them.

There's not much to say here that hasn't already been said. I love concerts but due to some hearing loss it can be painful if the sound is too loud. These cut the volume on the sound without reducing the quality. I tried them out at a concert last week and it was perfect - you can't go wrong with these!
Great plugs.......2007-05-08
Same as the ER20's direct from Etymotic, without the $8 shipping. The "BP" is just the plug color. I play in small rooms with very loud bands 10+ hours a week and have been wearing these for a few years now. (This is my 4th pair.)
Unless you're going to pay the couple hundred bucks to get custom molded plugs, these are the best sounding you're going to find. Also, very comfortable to wear for hours at a time (much more than foam plugs.)
Also, unlike foam plugs you hear sound evenly without hearing your own voice any louder, so it's great for singers and for being able to carry a conversation at a club without yelling at someone not realizing how loud you're talking.

Highly recommend this easy to use IR/RF remote. Tried the Harmony 8890, and couldn't get it to work. Both the IR and the RF extension functionality worked just as advertised. Easy to program; in particular this remote learns from your existing remotes so you don't have to rely on the manufacturer's codes.

I don't recommend this burner at all. And why can't I give this a zero star rating?
I bought this dvd burner to replace my Lite-on burner that recently quit. In one week I have successfully burned three DVD's from six blanks. Lite-on had a much higher success rate and it was faster than the Sony.
I was hoping the Sony would outlast the Lite-on which only lasted about six months. Its been one week and I'm already looking for a replacement for my Sony.
A real disappointment and piece of junk.......2007-11-04
This would have been the 6th Sony DRU burner I've had, but I am SO done with Sonys. Even the older models that worked fine only lasted a year or two. Big waste of money. And now this new DRU 830A won't even read straight out of the box!! It did manage to write to a DVD, but created a half dozen coasters -- which it can't even read itself. This has got to be the biggest piece of crap burner I have ever seen. I am returning it today for a Pioneer. I have one of those already (I own a video business) and the Pioneer has no flaws at all. Sony drives are pure junk. If I could give it 0 stars I would.
Poor Quality and Support.......2007-09-16
I would not recommend purchasing this or any other Sony product. It is apparent they do not test their products prior to shipment.
I purchased this device and it did not work from the start. After several hours on hold and on the phone with their technicians, it still did not work so they recommended I return it - on my nickel as their warranty states. Well, the second one did not work either and the technicians could not figure it out so they want me to pay to ship this one back too, again on my nickel. I refuse because I don't know where it will end - I have no confidence the next one will work either. I was taught to not throw good money after bad so I now have a doorstop. Sony has lost a customer over this and that seems to be ok with them - that's a warning.
Such a Deal on a DVD/CD burner.......2007-09-12
Once in a while a really great deal comes your way. This is one of those deals.
First: this is a SONY.
Second: it burns practically everything on the market.
Third: it comes with Nero software included.
Fourth: what a great price.
I'm just glad I got one before they were all gone; because deals like this dont fall out of the sky everyday.
If you need or want a new or even a second burner, check this out... if there are any left.

I have tried a few different brands of media and all but 3 have been an unsuccessful burn. I use mainly Verbatim which IS compatible with this drive.
