One Year and Still Going Strong.......2007-11-08
I bought a LaCie 250 GB USB 2.0 red brick drive in November 2006 to back up a large amount of digital photo work, and as a general backup disk. So far, the drive has worked flawlessly, though it's worth noting I don't run it constantly. I only power on the drive and connect it to a system when I need to back up or retrieve data.
Pro:
- The drive is quiet when idling -- much quieter than my T43 laptop's fan.
- It's worked flawlessly: no data loss, and shows up as a plug-and-play device with no problems.
- USB 2.0 is reasonably fast and flexible for moving between various PCs.
- The case design is unique, fun and eye-catching.
- It's a reasonably-priced drive, even though there are less expensive drives out there.
Con:
- As other reviewers have noted, the power switch is a bit difficult to find by feel alone and is cumbersome to depress if you have larger fingers.
- The female-DIN power-supply connector on the back of the drive also seems fragile, so I've always been extremely careful when attaching the power supply to the drive.
- The included USB cable is pretty short.
- The included backup software did not install on Windows XP Pro/SP1 (and I haven't bothered with it since.)
Even with so many items in my "Con" list, I still give this drive four stars, mostly because of price/performance/reliability, and because none of the negatives listed above affect my work.

It has been the most hassle-free piece of hardware I've ever used. I simply opened up the box and plugged in the cables. The drive was FAT32 formatted and my Airport Extreme base station recognized it immediately after I hooked it up. It now runs as a network drive.
Looks and feel: cool design from packaging & box, to the actual drive.

I bought it strickly for backup. It works great.
It's a great investment. Being USB portable it's one of the few things you can take with you to a new computer. My only regret was that I didn't buy a 500GB.
The only thing that sucked was their packaged backup software. I did some research on line & downloaded "backup4all". It saves the backed up files as zip's. There's a bunch of backup softwares out there & I don't have a clue which is the best but I can attest that this one works great with the LaCie & is easy to use.

For ease of installation, speed, reliability and appearance, the LaCie Brick can't be beat. I needed more space to store Tivo files, videos, and music but I didn't want to clutter up my desk or tackle installing a hard drive. This was a great solution - I can unplug it easily and hide it away or leave it on my desk without it looking like, well, a computer component. Yes, the USB cord is short but I have plenty of extra USB cords around if I wanted a longer one so I have no complaints. The speed is impressive - I transfered over 60 gigs in about 30 minutes. Definitely a good value for the price.

Useless!.......2007-07-28
I've had this armband since I purchased the waterproof case in 2005. I use the waterproof case daily, and just bought new earphones. I purchased the arm-band case, thinking that it would be flat against my arm and allow me to swim. It is not flat, and actually protrudes from your arm for several inches. This makes it completely useless for swimming, and probably any water activity that requires arm movement.
I just stick the water proof case between the straps of my swimsuit in the back. The headphone cord is long enough to allow this without any stress from stretching the cord.

It is not a bad item if it cost less. The plastic cover is a soft plastic with a cut out for the buttons. It is made with cheap tearable plastic that does not seem to keep its shape. The arm band is too wide for me. It is a bulky item. I don't think it is worth the price.

I found this works better attached to the back of a speedo than on my arm. It's just too big.

Perfect Replacement Drive for a PowerMac G4 Tower.......2007-05-21
With the ever-growing size of applications and files that need to reside on the primary internal dirve, the original 60GB internal drive was almost full and of an age reaching mean time before failure. The Seagate 300GB Ultra drive was the perfect choice for replacing it. The installation was quite simple, and the performance of the new drive has been flawless. My applications that reside there open much faster than they did on the earlier drive, and I couldn't be happier. To boot, this drive sports a five year warranty, and my prior experiences with Seagate on warranty repairs/replacements has been excellent. I highly recommend this drive!
Watch out!.......2007-01-11
Big disks = big trouble when they go bad.. this disk wasn't more than 6 months old when it died according to Seagate's testing tool (and the Data on the hard drive).. now I realize they don't do advance shipping of replacment drives - what a pain. A 5 year warranty is great and all, you just hope you don't have to use it!!
Over the past 12 years, I have had more trouble with these 200+ GB drives than I have with many many other smaller drives. Always have a backup, or run RAID 1 or 5 to perserve the integrity of your data!
Fast and easy.......2006-11-26
I decided to get this drive after the one in my 2.5 year-old Dell died. Installation was a breeze, even for a computer layperson like me. It took only a few minutes to swap the drives; installing Windows took a bit longer. This new drive is fast and super quiet (my old one would always make loud noises, even when I first got it). The 5-year warranty is a big plus! Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
