I bought these headphones about a week ago and I absolutely love them. They are the best earbud headphones that I have ever bought. They are a little bass heavy at first but are easily ajusted with some changes to your EQ settings on your player. This might not appeal to some but I look at bass the same way I look at owning a gun: It's better to have it and not need it, than to need and not have it. I cannot speak for all types of music and how they sound while using this product but for Heavy/Death Metal, Hardcore (Metal not techno) and some classic rock they produce the best sound imaginable (without speending hundreds of dollars on a set of bose). There is little loss on high ends and it is nearly impossible to listen to these at full volume for long periods of time. You can take comfort in the fact that if you did want to blow out your eardrums you can do so without any distortion from the headphones.
I bought these after already owing a air of the Skullcrushers. The skullcrushers are great headphones and produce outstanding sound. I use them for my PC based recording studio and are very good for what I use them for. I have been so impresseed with Skullcandy and their products that I just today ordered a set of the G.I. DJ style headphones in the camo color to add to my studio. I will never buy another set of headphones that aren't made by skull candy.
and to top it all off everyone of their headphones come with a life time warranty. If they malfunction due to faulty production they will replace it at 100% of the cost. If they break or quite working and it is your fault, they will replace your headphones at 50% of the cost. No other headphone manufacturer gives that kind of warranty. You also get some stickers, a stencil and other little add ons in the package.

When I purchased these headphones, they were great, a bit uncomfortable for my ears, but great. Now I realize they are terrible. They cease to work properly. I can only hear what sounds like European Techno whenever I try to listen to my music. They never stay in my ears and when I first got them they would apply pressure making it feel as if my ears were bleeding. Even when I merely sit at my desk they fall out. Needless to say I am extremely dissatisfied and expected more. Don't buy these, there are better alternatives.
Pretty Good.......2007-10-15
These earphones are pretty good. They sound great, they fit comfortably (and stay in) and they seem pretty well built. They also look very unique. I like the in-line volume control. It comes with a case and 3 different-size ear piece. They're only noise isolating though not noise canceling.

These Earbuds are fantastic, I use them with an iPod classic, and the sound quality is great, they are tiny yet sound like any over the ear headphones. The volume control on the cord is not that great, it is hard to adjust the volume by a little bit.
A big improvement over the Smokin' Buds.......2007-06-17
When my iPod buds finally died on me, I decided I wanted in-ear 'phones. However, I was short on cash, so I decided against the Shures, Etymotics, and the like. I saw the Smokin' Buds in a store for $20, and gave them a shot.
First off, the sound wasn't terrible. It was at least on par with the Apple buds. I had problems with the fact that the sleeves wouldn't stay put in my ears for any reason, slipping out almost as soon as I'd inserted them. In addition, the cord was rather thin, and anytime it rubbed against my clothing, or heaven forfend, my jacket's zipper, it would create enough noise to drown out my music. The nail in the coffin was the small chrome ring on the left bud. I had foolishly thought it was structural, but when it popped loose it turned out to be merely ornamental.
I took them back for a refund, and sent off a letter to the company expressing my dissatisfaction with their product. Much to my surprise, I was invited to try another pair, with the promise that improvements had been made and I was sure to find them more to my liking.
The buds that arrived in the mail were the Full Metal Jackets. The difference in construction is night and day. Where the bulk of the Smokin' Buds is plastic, these are aluminum. The sleeves never slip from my ears. The cord is far more durable, and thicker as well.
The sound was quite boomy when I first tried them, but I let them run at high volume for 24 hours on static to loosen them up. This helped quite a bit, and the sound continues to improve. It's still bottom-heavy, but turning off the EQ function on my nano helped balance it out. I really like that I can run my nano at half volume and still hear everything clearly. In fact, I would caution against running them at full volume while they're in, as I'm certain one would suffer hearing damage. My battery life has improved tremendously. I'm very happy with the sound and the comfort of these buds. I can't think of a better set of earphones for the price... and the warranty is first-rate.
