Pros:
-Great sound quality (When listening on these, I've heard some parts of songs I'd never heard before)
-Noise Canceling works well (I have yet to try it on a plane or a train, but I have tried it in a room with a lot of people talking, and it does block a lot of the noise out)
-The headphones look fantastic
-There is a convenient button that you can press when you are using the NC feature and it stops the music so that you can hear outside noise
Cons
-The headphones get uncomfortable after a while of use
-When the NC feature is on and you walk around, a buzzing sound in one ear is heard with every step (It gets extremely annoying, so I only use the NC feature sitting down)
-The carrying case could have been designed better
Sony MDR-NC60.......2007-12-18
Good product. I compared the Sony with a friend's Bose QC2 and QC3. It turns out the over the ear fit and noise canceling were better than the Bose QC2 and QC3. And the Sony was less that half the price.
Sony MDR-NC60 Does the Job!.......2007-12-13
I'm a true believer of these Sony MDR-NC60. I've been reading the reviews and was leaning toward the Audio Technica ATH-ANC7.
I was able to physically try on the Sony MDR- NC60 first hand so I decided to buy them. I have no regrets after a 14 hour flight! The headphones worked great! I had these headphone on for 99% of the time on a 14 hour flight to Asia. The headphone are solidly built and are very comfortable. The ear cups fit around the ears comfortably. The monitor feature is nice when the flight attendant comes by for food and drinks.
I don't think this would be the right headphone for audiophiles. Sound reproductions are good but not great!
The headphones works really well around ambient noises. It does seem that human speech does come through clearly but I think that is by desigh.
Design Flaw leads to loud low freq oscillation.......2007-12-01
First of all, when not oscillating, the headphones work very well-- noticably better than the earlier model NC-20 which I also own.
However, this particular design seems to have a flaw that other reviewers have also mentioned. It is possible to set up an oscillation between your ear and the pickup mic in the headphones. The result is a LOUD ~15hz oscillation that can be felt as much as heard. On the pair I recieved, the oscillation occurs only in the right headphone. It is not always present, but needs something to set it off. Once going, it doesn't stop until you lift the headphone off your ear.
I found by expermentation: Stand in a quiet room, with the headphones unplugged from any music input. Lift the right headset very slightly off the ear. I presume I am changing the distance between my ear canal and the pickup microphone. Once the oscilation starts, it is unmistakable.
It is clear the noise is created by the headset, and contained within the space between the headphone and your eardrum.
Since the same flaw has been mentioned by others, I assume it's inherent in the design. But perhaps it also requires an ear canal cavity of a particular shape, and therefore only some users may be effected. Or perhaps its due to manufacturing variability. Either way, you're taking a chance since you can't tell if your pair will work until you open the package and try them out.

I am on the quest for the ultimate headphones.
I tried the JBL's from Costco, and now these. I also tried out the Bose Quiet Comfort headphones @ the Bose store. I've been avoiding spending 300+ for headphones, but after buying these I'm going to return them and just get the Bose.
The noise cancellation works really well, and there's a convenient "monitor" button that kills the sound so you can hear everything, but the sound just didn't sound as full and rich as I would like. I have some phillips in-ear headphones that I use for the gym that I feel have better sound quality than these - but dont get me wrong - the noise cancellation works pretty well. The sound just didnt sound as full/rich, and sounded a bit distorted.
I won't pretend to have a super ear, and my last name isn't Dolby. I just like listening to my music - and I need something while I'm working to block out the noise and distractions, and after thinking about it, I'll just buy the Bose and quit searching.

This compact drive works great with my laptop... I was able to use it within minutes right out of the box to burn some DVDs after getting the Nero software (that comes with the drive) installed. As mentioned by the other reviewer, the only feature which is missing (and hence the 4 stars instead of 5) is that the drive isn't USB-powered.

I bought this to use with my UX390N when using a network optical drive proved to be a pain. The UX390 detected and installed the drive in less than 30 seconds. It is very compact and is practical to be used when traveling. So far it has worked very well.

You get the idea from the writeup that the Sony external CD/DVD drive doesn't require AC power. In my limited experience with it, the drive will not operate without the AC power. But, overall, it appears to be a high-quality device and works as advertised. The form factor is amazing. Since it is portable, it sure would have been nice to have an included carrying bag/case to keep all of the cables/power supplies and the unit together. I use it for the Lenovo Thinkpad x41.
Compatible with thinkPad x61s.......2007-08-04
I bought this to use with a ThinkPad x61s. It works fine in Windows, however using it as a boot device is problematic. At times the laptop doesn't recognize that it is attached. A workaround is to try rebooting over again, entering the bios, exiting the bios, rebooting, and hitting F10. You may have to repeat this process, but eventually it will show up as a bootable device.
Also, the AC adapter plug doesn't quite fit the AC jack, seems like it is the wrong length, but it does work.

Great Amount of Disk Space for a Small Price.......2006-08-16
This is the second of these drives in use in my primary computer. For me it is cheap redundant data backup. The price is very good for this amount of disk space. The drives have served me well without crashing or loss of space due to bad sectors. They aren't the fastest drives out there but serve my needs well.
