Fake warranty.......2006-09-16
I bought this nifty pocket gadget. The USB memory didn't work so after trying all kinds of tests in several PCs, Their friendly Support staff confirmed it was broken and sent me to a web site to apply for the warranty, which is for 2 years and my product was 3 months old by then. I was asked to prepay $120 dollars to have the warranty honored. My original cost of the new gadget was $65. No typos, pay $120 to get warranty on your new $65 USB key/ knife. Judge for yourself.
Bad experience with this knife.......2006-05-29
I got the knife for Christmas 2005. It is of a high quality, and I was very excited to receive it. I put it on my keychain and have used it since. Unfortunately, the USB stick stopped working the second time I tried to use it. I sent it back to Victorinox (just the USB stick), and never heard back from them. It's been four months and I called them but they don't acknowledge receiving my USB stick.
So I've got a nice knife now, but no USB capability. I am utterly frustrated with the terrible customer service (I call them and call them but they never give a straight answer).
The light is not very bright.. I can barely use it to find the key hole on my door when I'm coming home at night. So it's not really useful to illuminate anything significant.
The knife and scissors have served me well. The file is not really great compared to other files. I wish this had a ruler like other knifes (it would be easy to etch a scale on one of the tools).

warranty scam.......2006-05-19
When I tried to return my USB drive (under warranty) because it didn't work -believe me, I tried everything to fix it-, they asked me to pay $120. The product costs $75. So, where is the warranty?

Only buy this with a good in-store replacement warranty (which bumps up an expensive device to an unreasonable amount, BTW).
If the USB memory module is placed in a USB port and pulled out too soon, you could permanently corrupt the drive.
Swissbit will RMA the drive for twice what 512 MB versions are currently going for! That's not a warranty!

They specifically say that you can detach the USB for travelling, if you look hard enough on the last sentence.
It notes that there is the LED light and pen, but its not shown on the pic, unlike other LED light sellers.
When the pen runs out, you're out of luck.
Personally, I would get the regular kind of USB Knife, w/o the light and pen. Think about it, you're spending an additional $50 for a pen and a light, when you could hook a pen, a laser pointer, and the knife on a keychain.
