Excellent works great - never had any problems with it.
Also comes with retrospect software to backup and adobe photoshop album - these are not some cheap programs - they are easily worth an additional $50 to $60 dollars.

I purchased this for a trip to Africa and planned on taking LOTS of pictures. I used it before leaving so I was confident I knew how it worked and its limitations. I saved 14 gig of photos, audio and video. It saved several people's files in different "slots" so we could identify whose photos were whose. All arrived safely. I used it in the field and downloaded in the car, recharging it at night. I even sent the HD to Go in the mail so friends could also download the files.
I have no complaints about this at all! It travels well, the price is right and has adequate memory for my needs. Having a battery supply is a plus! It may not be top of the line, but I'm not paying top of the line prices either.

I received this unit as a gift just prior to leaving for an exotic vacation so I could save the hundereds of pics I was going to take with my digital SLR. I should've trusted my gut (and read some reviews as well). It felt cheap and there wasn't any verification that the pics were actually downloaded. I felt uneasy about erasing my card without knowing for sure. Well, it turns out I had very good reason to be uneasy. When I came back from my trip, i was horrified to discover that many pics were missing. Entire days worth. I'm no professional but i truly value my pictures. Even if they paid me to use this unit, it wouldn't be worth it. Please, PLEASE, take my advice. DO NOT buy it if you value ALL your pics. It hurt even more to discover that others have had the same problem (search the reviews for yourself) and I could have avoided this. Don't make the same mistake I did.

* Bare Bones LCD - The B&W LCD / indicators are very bare bones; it basically allows you to select what kind of card you are uploading, CF, SD, etc., then a "copy" button starts the process. The LCD screen tells you how far % it has completed, but once it hits 99%+, and the % indicator goes off, there's nothing that indicates that it has finished. (BTW, in case you were wondering, there is no image review, or even a way to check and see what files and folders are on the device.)
* Skimpy Documentation - The instructions that come with the device are abysmal: unfortunately, that's becoming par for the course for a lot of devices I'm buying. I had to go to the web site to figure out why I was getting a data error on first try (somehow I had managed to insert the CF upside down, believe it or not, but nothing in the documentation described why I was getting that error). I admit to not being the sharpest tool in the shed, but others must be putting the card in upside down too, or it wouldn't be on the web site, right?
* Battery Power - This is a "use it in your hotel room at the end of your shooting day" device. It only went through about three 1G CF cards for me before the battery power starting going low for me. Problem is that I had it running through a card/the % indicator was counting up while I continued shooting the other day, and I walked back to a device that had shut itself off. I had no idea how much of the card it had completed downloading until I could check it when I got home.
* Speed/Utlility - I haven't timed how long it takes to download a card, but it seems to take roughly the same amount of time it would for me to copy a CF to my desktop computer HD.. Works fine for what I want it to do, meaning it gives a decent alternative to having to carry a laptop for a short-term shoot, but's it's nothing fancy. The device did download both my JPG and NEF(RAW) files without any problems. It comes with a USB cord that allows you to easily use it as an external HD for your computer.
* Durablity - Not sure. Made of some kind of plastic. Comes with a pleather case ("synthetic leather"). I wouldn't bang it up and down on anything, but it doesn't seem especially flimsy either.
* Bottom Line - Best when you're close to an electrical socket and can give it TLC. Price is certainly cheaper per gigabyte than the CF cards themselves.

This great little tot serves me in several ways. I use it a work with out-of-date computers using Win 98, and with the downloadable driver, and can easily transfer from home on my Vista and Win XP. I don't know if the 1G or larger Lexar is a Firefly or will work or not, but I cannot use the SanDisk or Toshiba 1G flash (nor find a Win 98 driver for them). But for what I do, even backing up the 75MGs of office files and leaving that little Firefly at work in case the old Win 98 crashes again, the Firefly is neat and most usuful, as it can back up my 10 office directories of about 75MGs in about 10 minutes at work, where it used take several hours on the ten floppies -- gosh, that is a savings. Lastly, as you can see in the picture, the clip part that goes on your key chain STAYS on the key chain, so you can leave the Firefly in the computer and still use your keys, unlike the others. With most, you have to leave your keys attached and/or even lose the cover (though such could be safer). But at 12-14 bucks, and when transfering non-critical and convenince files, it is nice to leave it where you put it and NOT have your key chain attached.
