A good value for the price.......2007-12-10
I've used these headphones for about 2 weeks on my ipod. The noise cancelling function works after a slight delay. The sound is not as good as the original headphones that came with my nano, but since I mostly listen to podcasts, the sound is fine. I wanted noise cancelling headphones with earbuds for listening to podcasts on the underground train & these fit the bill perfectly at a very affordable price.

I received this headphone from my insurance company as a replacement for a stolen Sony noise cancelling headphone. While I like the string-like wires (it doesn't kink and tangle like regular headphone wires), the clunky control unit is not good if you're moving around (I'd rather have one that clips and stays put...this one swings around like a pendulum). But the worst problem of all is the gels easily come off the earbuds. You cannot replace them with the proper gels. I've tried using replacement Sony gels but they slip off all the time (usually stuck in your ear). Opt for another brand or wait until Phillips makes replacement gels available.
Don't Bother.......2007-09-15
I returned mine. They made a clicking sound if you bumped the on/off switch device and there really was no "sound reduction" or "noise cancelling" when you activated the device...it just got louder, like a booster. The ear buds slip out if you are walking or moving around. I think a waste of money.
A little disappointed .......2007-06-27
I bought these for a trip and I am basically laying down my first impressions here.
The noise cancelling is about what I expected. It works fairly well but it certainly doesn't provide you with the silence that the name would imply. I do notice the hiss that other reviewers mentioned but it is not that noticeable to me. Overall, I think the unit is at least on par with other noise cancelling ear-buds that I have seen, at least in regards to the sound reduction feature. Don't wear them while you're eating as the throat noises will be quite a bit louder than the music.
The sound quality is fairly good for ear buds; I would put it on a par with the Apple buds which I consider to have a good sound quality. However, these buds seem to fit in my ear much better and much more comfortably than the Apple buds.
The sound is not especially robust and does not go as loud as I like, overall I would say it's good. But, for the money, not as good as I had expected. Also, there does appear to be a significant dead band on the volume knob and I am not sure if this is the result of my computer or the headphones.
Physically, I like the design, even if it is a bit confusing at first. The neck strap is comfortable and the string-like cabling seems fairly tough. The pendant is not heavy (to me) and I almost can't feel it when it is on. But, don't expect to use these when you're running or working out.
One real problem I did find: when the noise cancelling is on, I can create significant signal noise on the unit, quite easily, by touching or rubbing the pendant. This doesn't seem to be much of a problem if I am just moving around, but if I physically touch the pendant I get some scratch.
Not bad overall, but certainly nothing I would get excited about. If you have to have ear buds for some unknown reason or if you can't afford the better, over ear headphones these are a fairly good option.

I was just looking for something to listen to with my laptop as I live in a community and don't want to bother anyone else. I was impressed with the ear-buds. I am not much of an audiophile, however, I think the sound is very good, the cord is of great length (4 feet)--the lanyard works very well, there is plenty of bass, etc. There are also three different types of ear plug rubbers with the headseat, so there is a choice of fittings, as well as a travel bag, and two adpaters--one for the plane and one for a larger stereo, and it included a battery--what more could you ask for? I think it was an excellent deal for 35$ and I would certainly buy it again.
