Product Description
The SR225 has an increased airflow by 50% which is achieved through an improved rear metal screen and closer matched drivers. The result is an enlarged soundstage achieved from closer driver tolerances, while the improved rear screen frees the headphone from colorations.

Best Available for the Money.......2007-11-24
First let's dispel the notion that the style of these cans somehow makes the user look like a clod when wearing them. They ars retro in styling, but they're not oulandish. You'll look a lot more like an idiot wearing the sennheiser wireless series than wearing these.(this is for the folks that REALLY care what they look like when wearing headphones)
As to sound these are the best that can be had for $200.00, the sound reproduction is fantastic even at low volume. These are for audiophiles and people of discernment that really like listening to music.
Check out reviews on the web for these and know that the raves these cans are getting are really deserved.
If Grado decided to mass-market their headphone line, i think that they would become a household name in a relatively short period of time
As to comfort these hold up about as good as the competition, some people may find them slightly better, others slightly worse.
These are the real thing if your looking for great music and home theater sound reproduction in your headphones. I rate them a best buy.
Wow . . . wish I had heard of Grado sooner........2007-11-20
I have purchased quite a few pairs of headphones over the years, primarily to use with my 80GB iPod. My main pair recently has been a set of Shure e4c's, which I thought were pretty darn good. When i first put the SR-225s on, I was impressed with the rich sound, but I can't say I was bowled over. That didn't happen until I put the Shures back on. I immediately noticed how they were more narrow and tinny in comparison to the SR-225s. When I put the Grado's back on, the difference was astonishing. The soundstage opened up, and I could hear things I've never heard before, even with the e4cs. The detail with the Grados is incredible. I've heard these are even better with a headphone amp, and can't even imagine how they could be better. Obviously, I'm not an audiophile but for me, this is as high end as I can imagine. For $200 they are a far superior choice to the Bose Triports (which I bought about a month before these) which sound horrible in comparison. Yes sound does leak in and out but its not nearly as bad as some would lead you to believe. Very highly recommended. If you don't want to spend $200, check out the SR-80s or even the SR-60s.
Strange Choice of Picture.......2007-11-19
These headphones are absolutely excellent, especially when driven by normal portable gear. Like everything, they benefit from better equipment, but one of their greatest virtues is their ability to shine right out of an iPod. These are a great choice for someone who just wants a plug n' play upgrade.
The cause for my strange title is the inaccuracy of the picture above. The winsome brunette seemingly enjoying some afternoon music and try toast is not actually wearing these headphones. Those gorgeous gold headphones are actually the $300 Grado SR 325i. The Sr-225's look almost indistinguishable from the rest of the plastic SR series. Black vinyl headband, black plastic cups, only identifying qualities are the stitching on the headband and the numbers on the little cups. Caveat Emptor, and all that.
Great for slow music (jazz, indian/western classical, hindustani).......2007-11-13
I purchased this product after reading rave reviews about it, especially for listening to jazz. I have not been the least bit disappointed.
It sounds amazing. The only constraint on these "cans" is the sound quality which completely depends upon the quality of the source of music.
If your only source of listening to music is MP3 players or AM/FM, I would not recommend them. But if you listen to music with high bit rates 320 KBps+, flac files , CDs or DVDs with quality sound output, I would totally recommend these. I use a Cowon iAudio X5, and it sounds amazing with these, especially since most of my collection is in the flac format.
The reason I did not give these headphones a 5 star is because inspite of bieng very versatile (musically) and in terms of the instruments you could pair it up with (mp3 players, musical instruments, high end systems) it comes with
1) A very short cable which restricts movement, especially when your playing instruments. You will have to buy an extender, which costs money.
2) A 1/4" connector. If you wish to connect it to an mp3 player you would have to get a converter from 1/4" to 1/8", which makes it inconvenient to attach it to tiny players. I believe headphones should come with 1/8" connectors so you can attach to bigger instruments using a converter and at the same time comfortably attach them to tiny mp3 players.
One other potential problem with these is that they are open headphones, meaning if you are listening to music even at reasonable volumes, people around you will get disturbed. Quite a bit of the sound from the speakers leak out. So using them at work or in public places might be out of question.
But the bottom line is that these are the best sounding headphones I have ever used. They are very comfortable (I have small ears) and they fit very snugly. I have used them for several hours on a stretch without fatigue. You can use them without having to resort to purchasing costly headphone amplifiers because they only have 32 ohms for impedance which is why they work well with decent mp3 players. But if you have a weak mp3 player, get a cheap amplifier. I purchased a Boostaroo, but haven't had to use them.
Overall: Very Highly Recommended.
Worth the hefty price.......2007-10-21
I took a leap of faith and bought these after reading several reviews. The most expensive headphones I had purchased before were a $20 pair of Sony's. When they first arrived, I couldn't listen to them however because I didn't realize the jack was 1/4, and that I needed to convert it to 1/8 for normal use. Once my converter arrived though, wow... I had no idea what I was in store for. I was suddenly hearing aspects of music for the first time that I had been listening to for years. New sounds appeared everywhere! The bass is so round and full and is mixed perfectly as to not over or underwhelm. Highly recommended.

An excellent, tough, portable storage option.......2007-09-02
I have had a 2GB model for a couple of months now and use it almost daily. This is a great product. It is much tougher than it looks, so you can ease any concerns about the card warping or the connector snapping off. One of the PC magazines tested 3 models and this one beat out the other 2 that had either a retractable connector or a cover for it. They washed it, dropped it and put it in a toaster oven to simulate a car's interior on a hot summer day. I tried it because of that article and love the convenience. The two sided connector is very convenient. The only (minor) complaint is that on some desktop models the USB port is recessed and the walletex will not insert, due to the shape of it's body, without an extension. However, other models similar to this are using a spinning hard drive that has moving parts. Try washing that! This is solid state and built to last. Highly recommended...
its a really great USB flash drive !.......2007-01-19
Since buying it, I always have a usb flash memory ("disk-on-key") handy - I put it in my wallet when I received it (of course, after trying it and amazed of the easy connection, even to my IBM Thinkpad that had a problematic USB port..., as it connects both ways (!!) and it is great to be able to just plug it in without wondering which is the "right" side up..), and since its there by my visa and amex cards, it is always safe, and always with me (of course, if my wallet will be lost, than... but then my least problem is the data - but my other info cards, important notes I have and my bank cards...).
It was great having it ready for file transfer in the least expected place I've been and had a presentation of something I needed (no plans for it beforehand so I couldn't tell I'll need a media for that) - which helped me a lot afterwards.
Generally speaking, I recommend this slim credit-card sized USB flash drive, as it really is quality and helpful.
