I purchased these headphones yesterday evening from a big store.. think red circles. and they were alot more there. so I bought these headphones because they were the most expensive without going with Bose headphones.. which.. were AWESOME.. but way out of the realm of what i wanted to pay for a pair of headphones. I wanted something to sound better than the old trusty pair of headphones I have used since High School (Sony MDR-W08L Vertical In-The-Ear Headphones)which was 1985.
I put in my headphone splitter and quickly went back and forth between the headsets.. because.. the quality difference was.. surprisingly.. unnoticeable. Try the old sonys for a second.. rewind the song. put the Philips ones on.. ok.. there was slightly more bass in the philips headphones but they lacked treble. The Sony ones sound better.. and at the same volume level the philips ones are lower volume. So, if you DONT have headphones.. These are good sounding ones. However if you are upgrading from a pair of in the air cheapo sony headphones (That i have always loved) dont bother. However.. for the money these are listed for here. These are QUITE a deal for those without headphones. They are average quality sounding. My REAL advice to you is DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE put on BOSE headphones because everything else will not sound good at all.

These are the best quality headphones I have ever owned. The sound is amazing and they put out quite a bit of sound. I love these so much that I bought a back-up pair just in case I damage them some how. Since they are so cheap, I figure why not. I bought some of the very expensive Sennheiser headphones and there is no comparison. The Sennheiser had NO BASS and I am hardly a bass head. These headphones have a full rich dynamic and very clean sound from top to bottom. I seriously cannot express how good these headphones are for under $100.

The design of this headphone and its specs were exactly what I was looking for - light, comfortable, foldable with a wide sound range capacity. Everything was great except that I found the treble response to be completely dulled compared to mid and bass.

Reliable for video editing.......2007-07-10
After going through a number of drives, I bought this for my G5 running Mac OS X and I must say it runs flawlessly. I had a very bad experience before with a LaCie, which is supposed to be top of the line - it crashed, taking six months of work with it. I recently experienced a second hard drive crash, internal this time, but since I was all backed up on the G-tech, no problem!
Noise, etc., is not an issue for me - I do hours of DV capturing and intensive editing on Final Cut Pro and AfterEffects, and I NEED something that will back up in a hurry and stand up to intensive use. Bottom line: Your data is safe in it, and that's something, considering a lot of today's FW drives tend to crash - check out some other reviews for evidence of this. Whatever drive you go with, if you're working with video, I recommend the FW 800 - you'll get more bang for your buck. Off to buy two more.
GIG In a hurry!.......2007-04-24
If your looking for a place to store all your HD video this is the pill for the ill. Of course the drive is formatted for Mac, so if your PC user I'm not sure what the compatability is. Witht the 6-pin to 6-pin firewire I plugged it in, turned it on and "Poof" 500 GIG. With no fan the drive is quiet and the exterior is stylish. Very Happy with my purchases.
Not worth the money...........2007-02-09
Does not shut down along with your PC, does not come with USB Cord (hello!), has to be completely formatted before you can use with Windows, the light on the front of the machine is incredibly bright, has to be placed out of sight or it will become a nuisance.
For the price of this drive it is not even close to worth the money. It is not plug and play by any means. Other than the cool looking aluminum chassis, this drive has little to nothing going for it for the everyday user.
If you don't mind these things above, then it is a good drive because Hitachi (inside) is reliable, assuming it is their tried and true 5 platter design that is being used, and not the new 3 Platter which is unproven.
There are too many quality, plug-n-play, options out there to pay all the extra money for this drive that is totally inconvenient to use. It is also not that quiet.
I also own and WD MyBook Premium (320GB) and I have had it for several months without a problem and it does everything you want for alot less money. It's quieter, shuts down with PC, fanless, good looking, firewire etc.
Bottom-Line- Look elsewhere this drive is not worth the money, other than the form-factor has few to NO redeeming qualities.
