Great isolation, not great audio sound........2007-12-03
I use these to record Drums. They do have excellent noise isolation. They don't have the best audio quality. A bit to much midrange, but OK. Compared to 'in ear' 28db isolation plugs, they do keep out any loud noise just as well. They do fit tight (on my average head) to help with isolation which causes ear fatigue after about 45 min of use. After an hour or more they really start to hurt the ears due to the pressure on them. Other than that they are what they say...Extreme Isolation...just the audio and comfort lacks.
2-way isolation and great sound.......2007-05-31
I ordered these headphones after I discovered that my expensive Bose QuietComforts leak sound - enough to be annoying to passengers sitting next to me on a train or bus. (Okay, so I listen to music kinda loud - Blame it on middle-age. My ears are already shot.) The Extreme Isolation headphones do not leak sound to the outside - even at volumes much higher than I could stand to listen to. I did a comparison wearing the Extreme Isolations clamped to my left thigh, and the Quiet Comforts clamped to my right, and switched jacks back and forth. The QC's I could hear easily; the EI's not at all. And best of all, the EI headphones sound great - better than the QC's, in my opinion.

I used this headphone to mix for local bands with very load percussions easily! You can do the recording mix and the live mix together using one of the aux outputs for the recording. This headphone will give you a second chance to do a great live recording!
