Best Noise Canceling Headphones On the Market.......2007-11-08
I had a pair of Maxell MAX190400 noise canceling headphones that broke. Instead of replacing them I thought I would try other noise canceling headphones. I bought (and returned) the following: Shure SE210, Sony MDR-NC60, and the Phillips NC headphones from Best Buy. I almost decided to get the Bose headphones, but after reading the reviews I wasn't impressed especially for the price. After much frustration I decided to try the Maxell's again only this time I would upgrade to the Maxell HP/NCIV. These are the best noise canceling headphones. I work in an office that plays music that I don't like. With these headphones I don't even hear the music plus they are comfortable. In my opinion they are much more comfortable and easier to maintain that the "in ear" designs. Great product, don't waste your money and time like I did on investigating other products.

One for two ain't bad..........2007-08-21
I bought one of these a while back and installed it in the kitchen. It was perfect! Used it with no problems for ~year. When we sold the house, we left the unit behind and I purchased a second for our new house. After installation (oops) I realized that none of the buttons on the unit worked. The remote worked fine so we dealt with it. However, now the whole thing is on the fritz. I just called customer service and am hoping for satisfaction, but although I just installed it, it was purchased 8 months ago, so I'm probably out the $. If you buy this, test it first and test it fast!

Just installed the ALJ700 today and have finished putting it through its paces. All-in-all, I'm very pleased. The LCD disply is crisp and clear (using cable), the DVD/CD player works flawlessly, and the FM tuner has good sensitivity. (Can't comment on the AM radio, since I never listen to AM.) Installation was very simple and the instructions were great. The mounting kit is very versatile, for almost any cabinet design, and all the needed accessories, brackets, etc., were provided. The key to success in this sort of all-in-one product is how the vaious components are integrated together. Philips has done a very good job in this regard. For example, the TV screen shows the disk and track IDs when a CD is playing, but turns itself off when it is folded up into the unit. The unit itself is very inconspicuous, which is a real plus. My only complaints are that the speakers are a bit small (with correspondily weak bass response) and there is a slight delay when pressing buttons (as previously noted) All-in-all, however, seems to be a very satisfactory product.
Easy to Install & Looks Great !.......2006-12-30
I purchased the Philips AJL700 and easily installed it in the kitchen. I have it connected to analog cable (without converter box) and the picture and sound are clear. The screen format is 16:9 so the 4:3 TV format gets stretched to fill the screen which looks fine. The DVD playback is crystal clear and the wide screen format looks great. Be sure to connect the supplied AM and FM antennas if you want good reception. I just wrapped the FM antenna wire around the spacer mounts and laid the AM antenna on the top of the unit between the bottom of the cabinet and the top of the unit. I will update this review if I run into any problems.
Defective product... will never buy Philips products again!.......2006-10-15
We purchased this product last February. We were very happy with it for the first few months. After about 5 months, the LCD screen would get dark and/or fuzzy, and the only way to fix it was to wiggle the screen. The 90 day warranty had already expired. Now today, only 8 months after it's purchase, the screen is completely black when you try to play a DVD. The screen is fine to watch TV. So we called Philips customer service. We weren't happy with our options and asked for a supervisor, who informed us that our only option was to buy a replacement for $211. We paid $300 for this defective product the first time. Now why would be put even more money into a piece of junk? They said they don't even make replacement parts for this product, you just have to buy a whole new unit. We told the Philips supervisor that we are incredibly disappointed with this product and will never buy a Philips product again. Don't waste your money. Something will break on it after the warranty has expired. Now I understand why there is such a short warranty on this product. Consider yourself warned!
