Ok so maybe this isn't a 'repair' but it's certainly the next best thing!

I've had my iPod video for a little while and a few weeks ago I managed to scratch the screen, it's a bad scratch caused by putting my keys in the same pocket as the iPod. I'm normally so careful with my devices but the mistake all but ruined the screen!

I had an idea and called upon my old friends a JAVOedge. It may well seem like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted but I thought that an Anti-Glare JAVOscreen might cover up the scratch and prevent any further damage.

So today I got my screen protector from JAVOedge and after cleaning my iPod screen I applied it. I am simply amazed at the results! Have a look at the two pictures below. In the 'before' picture you can clearly see the nasty scratch but after applying the anti-glare screen protector it is virtually impossible to see the scratch, even up close and holding it to the light you can barely see it!

Not only does the JAVOscreen hide the scratch but check out the anti-glare coating. This makes the screen so much easier to see, even in daylight it cuts out all the unwanted reflections.

Works as advertised but cheesy construction.......2007-06-24

Works as advertised. I tried it with an old Windows 2000 laptop using the supplied driver CD and a new Windows XP machine. Both worked fine, and I was able to read a Sony Memory Stick. I was disappointed because I expected better construction for the price, which is 2-3 times the other non-docking readers. The reader protrudes a full 1" when fully inserted into the docking station, so don't expect a flush fit. When inserting into the docking station, it mates to an awkward mini USB connector instead of something designed with more clearance appropriate for a docking station. The plastic housing is functional but a little flimsy for the price. Includes USB2 and firewire cables, but as the other viewer pointed out, the firewire cable is for external connectors and not most motherboards.

I got this reader about a month ago and it installed easily as the USB 2.0 connector matched my MB connectors. But the supplied Firewire connector does not work on my MB as it is the external type and not pin type (the type you usually use to connect to external ports!)
The reader has two parts, a docking station that gets installed into a 3.5" drive bay (like the floppy drive) and is connected to the Motherboard's USB 2.0 and Firewire connectors. The other part is the actual reader that accepts media devices. This part is typically inserted into the docking station and is recognized as multiple drives in Windows XP. The neat idea is that you can take the reader with you on the road and use it independently via the supplied USB 2.0 wire with your laptop or other computer.
Another thing to note; if your case has a door that covers the 3.5" drive bay when closed, you will have a problem as the reader protrudes for 1" outside the docking station. Just make sure you have enough clearance if you want to have it docked and the door closed. (I have it installed into an Antec Plus-1080B)
