Terrible price for no noticeable benefit over other decent component cables..........2007-12-26
I grabbed these cables with the impression that Monster's advertising has some truth in it. I was expecting a brighter/clearer image on my big screen that what I was getting with some $20 (other brand) cables.
Guess what. I haven't seen any improvement yet aside from the money that I am missing. I tried these cables and the THX certified monster cables with no observable effects whatsoever.
Perhaps there is a noticeble difference between these and the dinky cables included with most DVD players (but the same can be said for the $20 cables that I was using).
Didn't do the job.......2007-09-19
I have a Vizio 42" plasma that was connect to my HD DVD and H20 Directv dish via an HDMI cable. My HDMI connection broke (long story)so I had these Monster component cables lying around and I connected them. These cable don't do the job. The picture now has lots of noise and grainy and is simply not as smooth as with a Acoustic Reasearch HDMI cable.
Monster Cables are a Rip Off.......2007-09-18
I compared a Monster Cable vs one the one from Phillips which costs less than half this. And guess what, no difference. That's right. They rip you off. And what's the purpose off a gold plated connection if the rest of the signal passes through a copper cable.
It irks me see the staff at BestBuy and Circuit City pitching Monster's $75 Component Cables and $120 HDMI cables at uneducated customers. There are cheaper and equally performing cables out there. Do your research and save some of your hard earned money.
By the way, be wary of all the glowing reviews you read on amazon for this product or for others as well. Recently I have been seeing a lot of positive reviews from anonymous reviewers or reviewers with only one review to their name.
Composite Video cables make a difference.......2007-01-13
Definite difference if you are using an HDTV the DVD picture is much clearer, only wondering if HDMI is even better? Only downside is, I wish the cables were about 10ft long for more slack.
Top Quality for Analog Cables.......2006-12-15
I have good components, some of which don't have HDMI. So, I needed high quality componenet video cables. I got these, and it is hard to imagine better performance--even from HDMI. I run these cables from my DirecTV DVR to my AV Receiver. Another (longer) set runs from the Receiver to the wide-screen TV. The picture is sharp. I initially didn't get one of the connections pushed all the way onto the female end, and it didn't work. So, I pushed hard to get it on there, and it worked fine. These are tight (that's a good thing, since you don't want loose connections). Just push hard to get them on good, and they will work great.

Love this drive........2007-11-17
...except (and not a big deal), I was a little disappointed when the black "MAD DOG" logo was not on the drive. As I own other drives similar to this and am happy with the performance, I wanted the logo there.
"Writemaster" is the logo on this drive.
The box says that the "Product bezel is black, however the MAD DOG logo may not appear on the front panel.
Again, not a big deal, but I was looking for the name on the panel...oh well.

DO NOT BUY FROM MAD DOG.......2007-01-24
Do not buy this drive!!!!!!. For half the price purchase the Samsung SH-S182M/BEBN. I found out too late that Mad Dog buys these Samsung devices and packages and sells them as their own.The box says its a Mad Dog Model MD-18XTL1 but when you open the box you'll find a Samsung drive that you could have purchased for half the price. So you might as well save yourself $40.00. I thought someone swapped the drives but when I inquired at Mad Dog whether they sold Samsung devices as their own they replied:"Yes we have a contract with Samsung to sell, support, and warranty (2years) the drives"
