I would rank the headphones performance as fair when compared to others.
I have had my pair for 2 years now with out any problem.
No volume control and the headphones not working without
the battery were my 2 biggest complaints.
Since dropping them from 4 feet onto a hard surface, my newest complaint
is cheap plastic, although its hard to fault the headphones
for my own clumsiness. Be gentle with them is my caution.

I have just recently purchased a pair of these headphones. This, after a couple of months drooling over a co-worker's pair of BOSE. I found I could nit afford the $300 the Bose cost, and secided to take a risk with the Panasonic set instead.

This set features JVC's 5th generation DIST (Digital Image Scaling Technology) with the Genessa 32-bit image processing CPU, which insures faster and more efficient sampling that drastically reduces jagged edges and increases the resolution of any video source. The set's built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner pulls HD signals (480p/720p/1080i) right from the airwaves, and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming.
The digital 3D Y/C comb filter (with vertical contour correction) separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. It performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl, resulting in a razor sharp image. The Natural Cinema feature performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.
Other features include multiple aspect ratio modes, video noise reduction, color temperature settings, world clock, sleep timer, input labeling, high-speed channel changer, and V-Chip parental controls.
The front-firing speakers produce 10 watts of power per channel for 20 watts of total power. Other audio features include MTS stereo/Dolby Digital processing, virtual surround sound, advanced tone correction, and MaxxBass capability. It offers the following connection options:

Microdisplay, also referred to as LCoS, which stands for Liquid Crystal on Silicon, is a hybrid projection TV technology that sandwiches a layer of liquid crystal between a cover glass and a highly reflective surface patterned with pixels that sits on top of a micro-sized silicon chip.
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections.
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Excellent big-screen TV at a reasonable price........2007-06-12
I couldn't decide whether to give this four or five stars. I decided to go with five because this is a great product with only a few minor set-backs. First the good: A big, smooth picture with excellent sharpness, good skin tones, and vibrant color; loads of inputs on the back plus one on the side.. split screen mode, "pause" function, decent built-in stereo speakers, and a few other goodies make this an excellent buy for such a huge screen.
Now for the hidden faults:
1) Loss of detail in dark areas - This by no means ruins the picture, but it is noticeable on some shows/movies. Very shadowy areas tend to be pools of black at times. This usually isn't an issue though, as dark areas are most likely where the director does NOT want you to be looking.
2) Not-so-quiet fan - This is a projection tv, so it uses a fan to cool of the bulb used to provide light. While this fan is NOT extremely loud - it is noticeable if you have the volume below five, or if you're watching a very quiet scene in a movie. You would think that with the advances in technology these days, they could make a (nearly) silent fan!
3) Sluggish reaction time - Startup is about 20 seconds before you see anything, complete shut down takes almost two minutes due to the fan having to cool off the bulb completely after each viewing, channel switching (up&down) takes a full two seconds, and changing of the inputs is awkwardly slow - the input menu forces you to scroll through the inputs with about a 4-5 second delay between each.
4) Awkward menu screen - The menu screen is text only and is not organized into sub-menus, thus forcing you to scroll through all of the options line-by-line until you reached the desired setting. What were they thinking?
5) Pops & cracks - This is by far the oddest of the bunch. Every now and then (twice a day?), the set will actually pop or crack loudly. This may be due to my tv stand being a few inches too small, but it's a little unnerving. It is a huge structure, so hopefully this will stop once everything finally settles.
In the end, if you can get past its minor quirks, this is still a strong offering from JVC that gives you a big, beautiful picture without breaking the bank.
