These earphones have excellent sound quality, but the design has a fatal flaw.
I have had to send 3 pairs of the E3s back to Shure for replacement. The flaw is right where the cable connects with the earbud. Normal use can cause the connection inside the plastic tubing to disconnect.
My first and second pair both had 1 earbud go completely out. Only jiggling the wire right at the earbud would cause a quick reconnect to happen (only to go back out a second later). The third pair must have had a partial disconnect as the volume in one earbud dropped over 75% (I cleaned it several times to make sure it wasn't earwax).
I believe the carrying case can be a big factor in the wear and tear of the wires. If you put the earbuds in the middle section and begin to wind the wire around the spool, the tension will pull right at the spot where the wire connects with the earbuds. This cannot be good for the earphones. But this is not the reason for the outages. My first pair went quickly. I suspected that the case may be a factor, so I always loosely wrapped the earphones, this made it last longer, but it still went out. The third pair was handled with baby gloves and it still went out.
If you get these, make sure to be really careful with them.

It's a good thing the warranty on this item is so good because I am now returning the headphones for the second time. The stem is too fragile and it breaks easily. Sound is great, but certainly not when I can only use one ear and have to keep returning!
Horrible fit and sound!.......2007-05-02
After reading all the reviews...I brought these expecting greatness. I was so disappointed. First of all, I can not keep them in my ears. I switched out the different ear pieces, but NONE fit in my ears. When they are in my ears (assuming that I don't move around too much, I can hear my myself breathing and swallowing. I feel as though I'm underwater! And each time the cord of from the ear pieces move, I makes an odd noise inside my ear. I hate these earphones...
Warning! Fragile!.......2007-03-01
Be aware that the ear-plug portion of the earphone is attached to the plastic body of the earphone by a very narrow weak plastic stem. My stem broke somehow in my pocket. I will see if Shure will replace these...the design could definitely be improved.
The sound in the one remaining earphone is great, by the way.

Excellent, crisp-clear sound (despite lacking sufficient bass). It brings out the nuances you'd normally miss, and silences the crowd around you. Well worth the price!
After two years, I've noticed a slight balance shift in volume from the L channel to the R channel. I have sent the earphones to Shure along with a copy of my original purchase receipt (under the standard 2 year warranty), and less than 10 days later they've mailed me a brand new pair! I couldn't ask for more. Highly recommended!

This is a must have just for the cool factor. I bought one because I wanted to have all of my personal information secure and on me at all times. I keep the unit on my keychain. Another thing to point out is that the entire drive does not have to be secure. Just the data that you make secure requires your fingerprint for access. I plan on purchasing a few more as Christmas gifts for friends.

These drives are perfect for anyone who needs to carry around important files. I am a doctor and have one of these on me all day long. There is a little insert within the drive for you to put string through to wear it around the neck. However, they do not provide the necklace or atleast mine didn't come with one. The finger scanner works perfectly and the software was really easy to set up. It looks a lot like an Ipod shuffle but much smaller. I have the 512mb version, it is enough for my needs.
