The set's built-in ATSC (DTV) tuner pulls HD signals (480p/720p/1080i) right from the airwaves, and its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception. A standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming. Toshiba's CrystalScan HDSC technology upconverts all video signals (including 480i/p) to 1080iHD, resulting in a significant reduction in jagged line artifacts to create the sharpest, most realistic picture possible from every source.
This set features Toshiba's CableClear DNR+ technology, which optimizes poor NTSC signals from antenna or cable sources to eliminate video noise ("snow") for a clean crisp image. It utilizes the digital 3D/YC comb filter to compare frames and determine the existence and extent of video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital video noise reduction, and the appropriate sharpness adjustment to keep the picture clear. This feature now works on RF, composite and S-Video inputs, and can be selected by input.
The FST PURE flat screen picture tube delivers increased viewing angles along with the enhanced picture linearity necessary to produce accurate, life-like images. This feature eliminates unwanted reflections from room lighting, which is a common problem in conventional tube designs. It also improves sharpness and brightness.
The aforementioned 3D Y/C comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. It performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl, resulting in a razor sharp image. The Cinema Mode feature performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture. This set also offers five TheaterWide modes that expand letterboxed images--which is particularly useful when watching narrow letterboxed Panavision or CinemaScope films.
The Movie Mode feature changes the basic picture setup conditions to create a more theater-like picture, while the Sports Mode feature automatically adjusts appropriate picture levels to produce enhanced color, detail and brightness. Other convenience features include color temperature control, auto aspect ratio detection, closed captioning on mute, sleep timer, tri-lingual on-screen display, video input labeling, channel labeling, channel/video lock, and V-Chip parental controls.
This set has two stereo speakers that produce 5 watts of power per channel (10 watts total). The StableSound feature eliminates the annoyance of normal program volume being followed immediately by extremely loud commercial messages or drastic volume fluctuations while changing channels. HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats--standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

I have a built-in television cabinet in my living room, so I could only purchase an HDTV that was 26" or less wide. I was looking for a 1080i picture, as well. After lots of research, I decided on the Toshiba 26HF66 and I am thrilled at the bargain I got. The picture is unbelievable, and the sound is so strong, I typically only turn it up to 1/4 or its total volume. It is able to handle all HD formats, and the price is what really made it an amazing purchase for me. Now I'm looking for a big screen to go in my basement, and Toshiba is at the top of my list, thanks to this awesome mid-sized TV.

Stunning picture, looks good on My Wii, and great colors. Be sure to put BBE on for sound, because it sounds less tinny then. My only gripes are overscan, which from the looks of it is really bad, but it's picture is good enough to warent purchase. Really good, and great picture.

I was looking for the largest CRT HDTV that I could fit in my existing cabinet and stumbled across this set by Toshiba. The picture quality is very good, stunning in HDTV, but the sound leaves a little to be desired. My 14 year old Zenith had much better sound quality. The TV is loaded with features and provides plenty of inputs to plug in just about any a/v device known to man. The only things I would change would be the time it takes to tune each station which can make channel surfing a little tedious and the sound quality.

The set is ok overall...good price, free shipping, and good reviews convinced me to buy this set.
Now, after about a month, It continues to have a greenish tint when using the Colorstream HD input.
I'm going to call TOshiba support and see what can be done. Hopefully, I won't have to send it back.

I bought my first Buffalo to enable my son and daughter to go untethered and to prevent from having to drill holes and run wires in our new home. His laptop has a built in card and I purchased a Buffalo 125g antennae PCI card for the daughters PC. Very easy to set up and worked like a charm with no problems. My inlaws live next door 200ft away in an aluminum mobile home and we were able to get signal over there on the laptop. AWESOME!
Next stage came of trying out online gaming. 2 PS2s in two different rooms. Here I go again looking for several days at every review possible before deciding on how to make the kids' consoles internet enabled. We actually ran cables from their room to where the router was at to make sure it all worked. Check. Now what do we use that is wireless. Buffalo actually sells a device called an ethernet access point and I have seen other so called "gamer's wireless adapters" blah blah blah....don't waste your money. Just buy this router in the qty of however many access points you need and with the flip of the lil switch and some configuration, Shazam! Wireless network without drills or running wires. The only wires I had to deal with was from the PS2 to the router set as a bridge/repeater/access point which is installed on each of the kids entertainment centers with the included lil bracket. We also recently jacked in a Vonage Voip phone system in the daughters room on her repeater and then lit the whole house phone line system by plugging in the phone line in her unused phone jack with no problems. Awesome again!!
I did have to call tech support for something I was doing wrong during configuration of the repeater set up, but they were very nice and very intelligent and they spoke American Born English! Triple Awesome!
I have referred two families to this brand. Unfortunately, now a year later after I bought my setup, Buffalo is under litigation with a foreign company and all their products have pretty much skyrocketed in price if you are lucky to find any. The sad fact of this taking place is that the second family will inadvertantly have to buy a different brand. If you read the reviews, you will see that they are primarily throwing money down the drain from not buying the Buffalo brand. My sympathy to the Largents.
To conclude, either pay the 2 to 4 times these gougers are selling this for (originally $65 at stores) or be patient and wait until the litigation clears 8 months from now. It is worth the money and the wait for such an awesome product. Thanks Buffalo!

To be honest, I'd never heard of Buffalo before I bought this. A techy friend suggested the brand so I figured I'd give it a try. I have a cable modem hooked up to it (a D-Link)and it does a great job handling the 2 hardwired PC's and 1 wireless notebook that use it all the time. Easy to set up, easy to use. My kind of device!
Excellent router with stable connection........2007-11-29
I used to have Linksys WRT54G which is a piece of junk. Wireless connection drops almost every hour or so. I have updated the firmware but to no avail. I'm pretty sure this is Linksys common problem as many have faced it before. I bought this Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 and never look back. I have used it for 9 months for now and has not dropped even one connection. It is very stable and provide very good range.

This is a sleek looking router that has great range. It was easy to set up. I am using it with a media extender and streaming video with it and it works flawlessly.

Bought it 4 weeks ago and so far haven't had any major problems. We just have to reboot it once in a while, but nothing like my previous router, a Linksys WRT54G, which I had to reboot 10x a day.
We use both Mac and PC, the set up is very easy. Great product for a good price.
