An Excellent Purchase.......2006-02-21
Now a year old, HEAVILY used, this pair of headphones is still exactlty like the day I bought them. The sound they produce is at least as good as my ears can handle and their durability is the best I can imagine. I would not hesitate to put these in use in any commercial situation, to be used all day every day. They are also totally comfortable.
A few years ago I purchased a pair of Koss high quality headphones and was so impressed with their comfort and sound quality that I made the mistake of praising them and probably helped sell many more of the junkie items... As it turned out, they didn't last more than a few months until the plastic pivots and springs began to wear out. When I bought them I also bought replacement cushions because I did so much studio work I was sure they'd wear out. Well the spare cushions never arrived, even after three reminders... and the "lifetime guarantee" turned out to be a laugh because the plastic parts only lasted a few months each time, and there was shipping and handling each time they were replaced, plus the down time.
Eventually I replaced the plastic parts with shaped coathanger wire and they began to last longer without help, but of course the cushions DID wear out and I'd be darned if I'd pay for them again! They still work, but they've been in a drawer for a year, too ugly to think about using.
I don't want to make that mistake again, though the Fostex set is much better sounding and "looks" to be much more rugged. Time will tell. But as for sound quality, it is far better than my hearing allows me to detect faults. Comfort is excellent, though I think someone with larger ears than me or someone who's ears stuck out a little more would find them small and tight. For me they're perfect.... no complaints whatever so far.

JVC HD-70FN97 uses a native 1080p D-ILA device, a 0.7-inch 1920 x 1080 chip, or more than 2 million pixels per chip. Outstanding image quality of both standard and high definition signals is ensured through the use of an optical engine with a dynamic auto iris that responds to scene content to provide optimum black levels and accurate gradation in dark scenes. The set also employs JVC's Genessa 32-bit CPU video processing, incorporating the fifth generation of JVC's D.I.S.T. (Digital Image Scaling Technology). D.I.S.T. seamlessly up-scales any video source to display at full high definition 1080p. Standard definition signals are improved through better IP conversion, improved scalar performance and a PLL system that improves the performance of a composite signal.

Fine TV, especially for the price.......2006-11-02
In early October, we ordered this set through Amazon from Beach Audio. When the set came with internal damage, Kris Freeman of Beach Audio took it all in stride. This FN97 model was out of stock, so he sent us the slightly more expensive FH97 model at no extra charge. The new set was delivered and the damaged one picked up at the same time.
The picure on this set is amazing. My husband was pleasantly surprised. We probably sit closer than most people do, about seven feet away, but with a football game, in HD, WOW. With an travel show of the Grand Canyon, when the helicopter banks, you feel like you have to lean with it.
The internal cooling fan is much quieter than some reviews led me to believe.
There is very little reflection from windows across the room bouncing light off the screen. We like the black thin frame surrounding the screen because of the lack of distraction while watching at night. You can even turn down (or off) the intensity of the blue power button light.
Right now, we have it hooked up with the 1080i component output from the SA 3250HD cable box. We have Knology cable. The HDMI input (this set has two) might be even better.
We have the set sitting on the Plateau CR-2V(64) stand that we also ordered through Amazon. This stand is within one-eighth an inch of the set's width of 64 and one-eighth inches. On carpet, with the spike feet, the stand is about eighteen inches high. The middle of the screen comes out to a little under 45 inches from the floor.
So far, we are very pleased.
This TV was the stand out winner at CEDIA........2006-09-25
As a Home Theater installer I have yet to see any TV with a better picture. Even without video calibration this TV was Stunning. The perfect match for Blu-Ray or HD-DVD.
There where no visible pixels and HD-ILA will not burn in or drop pixels. I cannot say enough about this TV. You really do get what you pay for.

Great Wireless Router.......2007-11-27
I purchased the Buffalo Wireless-N Nfiniti Router a few days ago and have been nothing but satisfied. It is replacing my 4 year old D-Link DI-624 wireless router. With the Buffalo router, I was able to instantly connect my desktop, PS3, and Wii wirelessly using AOSS. It worked seamlessly. I was also able to connect my Xbox 360 to Xbox Live using a wire connection without punching any holes in the firewall. The performance on all of the systems has been superb. Wireless connections from the desktop or the game systems have not dropped.
The GUI used to configure the router is very good. It can allow for simple or complex configuration, depending on your liking. With every screen, there is on-screen help on the right hand side for any option displayed. It dynamically changes when you click on help next to any options.
My only quip with this device is the fact I cannot access the configuration from a wireless computer on the LAN. I actually have to be wired in. However, this might be something I am doing incorrectly, since you should be able to configure the router wirelessly.
I was able to purchase this router from Circuit City for $[...]. In my opinion, it was a great value and a wise investment. I have been on Broadband Reports forums where people will say the same thing. This is coming from someone that actually works in state IT and has a networking degree.
500MHz Speed Demon.......2007-11-16
WZR2-G300N
Specs:
Wireless / Wired N-Mode, G-Mode, - B-Mode High Speed Demon Router / Access Point
Marvel CPU 500MHz + Atheros chip 16MB of RAM & 4MB Flash - wired 10/100, wireless 54, 125, 300Mbps
I had purchased two WZR2-G300N one as used as wireless/wired router 20Hz and another I just got on Friday for the access point. I had a lot of problems and it looks like it was the one I was using as the router causing my problems as being faulty. I had just returned it wasn't working. So I still have one WZR2-G300N which I will disable the wireless and use it as a wired router and then use or keep the current wireless access point WHR-HP-G54AP in place. Right now I am using 2 WHR-HP-G54 (one as wired router and the other one as access point) Still the wireless is showing Excellent signal on 1 desktop, 4 laptops and 1 WLI-TX4-G54HP with Hauppauge Media MVP.
For some strange reason no matter what I did or configured the 2 WZR2-G300N with WLI-TX4-G54HP and MVP it just won't work. Kept on getting drop connections, where it would work then it won't. Then to make matters worst I lost the wired and wireless connections. I had to be the main router being used. As that was in placed for 1 week with WHR-HP-G54AP and WLI-TX4-G54HP and MVP was working perfectly. On the router side on each PC there seem to be WAN and LAN disconnection going on daily or at odd times. So the router was dropping the connections, so that was the first problem. Then when I got the second WZR2-G300N this past Friday night then all hell broke loose as they say. Nothing worked right.. I did get everything where it should be then the next day nothing worked.
Well in a bit I'll configured the new WZR2-G300N with a laptop prior before I implement that migration into the existing WHR-HP-G54RT wired router which will be shutdown. It's only going to work this way it has to be wired can't use the wireless features or it won't work with WLI-TX4-G54HP.

A capable, easy to configure router.......2007-10-22
Wireless-N is pretty much here, and this is a good inexpensive router to go with. Even if you don't have wireless-n adapters - you will buy a computer in the future with it built in, and it will improve range to older WiFi.
I went with the Buffalo because I've had too many configuration issues with Belkin and Linksys with their older routers, so that left a bad taste. Experts will like that you can configure it with as much granularity as any Linksys using the web based tool. I prefer Buffalo's web based admin because it has contextual help on the right all the time, and it hides fields you seldom touch - but reveals them when you want access to them.
Beginners will like the AOSS auto configure button. Basically you press the button on the router, you press the button on your AOSS capable device, and they sync up and find each other automatically with all the security settings in place. If you have a Nintendo DS - this is huge because you are forced to use WEP keys on a DS, and this saves you lots of time typing them out. With this you set AOSS on the DS, and press the button on the router, and after a minute - it works.
I also appreciate that the router places itself on the seldom used 192.168.11.X subnet. It's unlikely it will cause problems with existing networks in place. And it looks pretty sleek and cool - the pictures don't do it justice.
ecommerce issue.......2007-09-25
I have been using a non-wireless Linksys router for the past 5 years and wanted to upgrade to wireless. Buffalo was recommended to me as a easy to install router. It was very easy to install, basically plug and play. Everything was fine until I went to do online banking or pay some bills. I use both Firefox and IE, with Firefox the browser would just hang waiting to do something and with IE I would get a "page not found". I called Buffalo tech support and they were aware of the problem and had me try one thing (adding an IP address to the DMZ entry). When that did not work they stated since there was no new firmware nor did they know when an update would be released they recommended that I return the router and get a different model. If you use the Internet to do online banking, pay bills or purchase products this is not the router for you.
