Not as hard to navigate as I thought..........2006-05-22
I installed this along with a Pioneer DEH-P4700MP in my brother's car and am very surprised at how well it works.
Installation was dirt simple, connect wire here, connect wire there, plug in iPod, done!
And everybody is complaining about how hard it is to navigate through, well I'm glad to say it's not as bad as everybody's been saying. It is "clunky" when it comes to finding a curtain artist or song, but you need to remember one thing, this was originally made for Pioneer's AVH-P5700DVD and it just so happens to work with most of their other head-units. So basically if you have your iPod organized well, it shouldn't be a problem.
All in all it's worth dealing with it's clunky navigation just to have a direct feed from the iPod as well as getting it and keeping it fully charged.
UPDATE:
After using this for a while I've found that it is indeed faulted on it's interface.
Pros: Cheap, charges the iPod, easy to connect, works, good sound quality via the dock connector.
Cons: Trying to navigate to a specific song is a pain in the A**!
All in all the product works well connecting your iPod to your headunit and playing songs through your car's system. But actually using it is a pain if you want to listen to a specific song. And you'll end up searching for that 1 song for several minutes.
Pioneer needs to work on improving the functionality of finding songs.
5 stars on how it actually works, 1 star on the usability of it.

Television's electronics are messed up!.......2007-12-01
Every other time you turn on this TV the speakers buzz (extremely loudly!) and the on-screen display doesn't work. Sometimes the volume won't work. You have to turn this TV on and off to get it to work again. I set up an RMA online but ViewSonic never replied to my request. That was months ago. I also asked a ViewSonic rep who frequents my business to help - and she wouldn't. "Contact our Tech Support," she said. I wish I could! I wouldn't recommend this set.

Same problem as others who have this TV (from other reviews/ forums)- When you turn on the TV, you get an incredibly loud speaker-damaging buzz that won't go away unless you unplug the set. The remote won't work until the TV has been on for about a minute. Viewsonic will make you pay to ship to California... I've only had this set for 4 weeks! Then it will take at least three weeks for them to decide whether to fix it or send you a replacement. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd spend a few hundred extra and get something reliable or at least something that the manufacturer will stand behind. Also, it seem like they have this same problem with TVs of the same series but different sizes.

I use this TV as a computer monitor, using the VGA connection. The colors of the TV are stunning, especially when watching DVDs. The only downside is that the black color is not black enough when watching darker movies, even when I change the back light setting to dark (and ignoring the soft but persistent hum that the TV then generates).
One note on setup, especially when you are using the TV as a monitor: Change the aspect ratio setting to "no scale" (in the swiss army knife menu). The TV normally stretches the picture a little to fit the screen better, causing blurry pixels. This setting doesn't do that, which makes the picture much better from closeby.

This monitor works just fine, but not nearly as well as flat screen alternatives and many at much cheaper prices. If you want a clear crisp color image...choose another.

I really like this NEC FE992 19-inch monitor. I now have three of them (one bought from Amazon), two of 'em on an old PowerMac running dual monitors (via adapters that allow the use of PC monitors) and one for a recently-purchased older PC.
The CRT picture of this monitor is, in my opinion, a *lot* better than any of the similar-price-range LCD screens I've seen, and it looks a lot better than the other brands of CRT's I've seen recently too, for that matter.
The picture is sharp, and not blurry, even in the corners; I'm running them all at 1152x870 which my hardware supports.
The NEC FE992 monitors are certainly a vast improvement over the dreadful old worn-out blurry 15" Apple Multi-Scan I used to have.
The NEC on-screen controls for geometry and color and all that stuff, seem to work well.
The screen is nicely flat and it has a good anti-reflective coating (use water only, to clean).
The only thing I would CAUTION about is that NEC *requires* that the monitor's *serial* number MUST be on the proof-of-purchase itself. Unfortunately, at the time that I bought one of these monitors from Amazon, Amazon does NOT put the serial number on the proof of purchase, and by the time you receive the item and realize that, it's too late, which means that as far as NEC is concerned you have NO WARRANTY!!!! That is not good! Amazon should fix that. Some *other* retailers DO put the serial number on the proof-of-purchase, like they're supposed to as required by NEC - if in doubt, ask before buying and get it in writing, if you want an NEC warranty - they're picky about that. Chances are you probably won't need the warranty anyway, but why throw away a warranty for no good reason just because Amazon doesn't put the serial number on the proof of purchase, or anywhere else for that matter.
Anyway the monitor itself is fine - I'm very pleased with the ones I have.
