Beautiful. Worth every penny........2007-12-18
As a retired Electronics Technician with a vast DVD collection I wanted the best HDTV there is. The difference between HDTV picture quality is currently much greater than the traditional CRT or "tube" TV's. In particular, the Contrast Ratio is one of the most important features.
Yes, this HDTV is expensive, but if you add up all your Cable/Satellite/Internet and DVD purchases over a 15 year period you might discover it's worth while to get a quality HDTV.
You will want to experiment with the settings for optimal viewing. When you watch a good BluRay or HD-DVD movie on this HDTV it will be worth every penny. If you only have $800 for a new TV I can NOT recommend going High Def yet as regular programming will look WORSE on an HDTV with inferior video processing and low Contrast Ratio.
This is arguably the best HDTV and well worth the money. Sony TV's are high quality, but do get an extended Warranty. OLED technology is going to replace LCD but it will be at least two years before we see a reasonably priced HDTV.
Again, if you spend $800 on an HDTV you'll be disappointed but if you bite the bullet and invest in a quality HDTV like this one you'll really be glad you did. You'll get frustrated with the picture quality (or it'll break) on a cheaper HDTV and buy a new one in a few years time. Go to Sony's site, look at the terms and Google and/or use Wikipedia to research. You'll be glad you did.

not worth it.......2007-07-24
I bought this new and it lasted several years (only average quality), but then the AC adaptor failed. $25 for a new adaptor! Forget Radio Shack, etc, because it's 5V at 2.5A (Amps) with a hard-to-find connector.
Router would not communicate with Epson printer to show ink levels.

I bought this router to use with a dialup connection. The support staff at verizon told me you can not hook up a router with dialup service it has to be DSL. So with a little i'll show you attitude, i purchased this router to prove them wrong. The router has performed flawlessly it was even working with three computer accessing the internet while i was on the phone with verizon cleaning up some settings on a fourth computer. So don't listen to the "experts" at the phone company and go for it. I will be purchasing more d-link equipment for all my networking needs.
Good but WEP problem intermittent.......2007-01-15
Works fine but from time to time the WEP encryption does not work between router and my wireless Linksys card and I need to disable WEP.
Good - but one VPN design issue.......2007-01-04
These small router/firewalls have become a real commodity lately. This unit has two features that separate it from the rest. The first feature is the print server, which works flawlessly for me. I have an old laser printer centrally located next to this router in my house, and all of my computers print to this. It's a good feature.
The second neat feature that this unit supports is built-in VPN functionality. Before I purchased this unit I had my old router configured to allow VPN pass-through to an old Windows 2000 computer in my house that was hosting VPN. I wanted to get rid of that old computer, so I purchased this.
Unfortunately, this VPN functionality has one flaw - computers that attach to the VPN (at least the PPTP server) are assigned to a separate subnet than the LAN that they are connecting to. This means that you have to use the "Use default gateway on remote network" setting, which in turn means no split tunneling. In other words, all of your traffic has to route through the VPN when connected. The only way around this is with a explicit "route add" command, which becomes a hassle. Granted, the VPN is still useable, but I use it less than I would because of this limitation. Other than this VPN problem, this is a good unit.

This Back Up worked well for about 2.5 years and then quit. It would not mount on my desk top. The CMS people sent me a replacement after several emails with suggestions to try to get it working again. My unit was out of warrantee but they willingly sent a new one with a 30 day warrantee. The new one has been working for about 3 months and appears OK. But as I use it as a back up system, it was a shock when it failed and could not be used. Hopefully the new one will be more reliable?
