The sound quality is good, the fit comfy and the close-fitting cups make for good sound isolation even without the NR on. When you turn on the NR, though, you'll hear that annoying jet engine hiss disappear into a faint background hum.
YES. I don't even listen to music with these. I put them on, turn them on and then just SLEEP for the flight.

Good for a while..........2007-02-18
I actually like these headphones, when they're working. I believe someone else mentioned how folding can cause the wire to short, i've been through three pair of this particular headphone and each one has had that problem. All sound from the right cup dies out, and i'm very careful with use, they stay on my desk at all times, but do tend to fold them after each use. Anyway they're nice enough for me to try three times but i'm going to switch to a different brand that may last more than a few months.
Sound quality was sub-par.......2006-12-27
Being married to a tone-deaf wife, she thought she was doing well. However, she considered headphones with the more advertised feature of "noise cancellation" as important. The sound quality of these headphones for the $50 price tag is very sub-par. I will say that the webservers we run are a little noisy and the noise cancellation is a nice feature (it works pretty well on these headphones) but a good earcup would suffice for me. It blocked out about 60% of the hum of the server rack (right next to me).
If you're looking for sound quality, these are not for you. They are really hollow (remember those old radio shack headphones?) If you're a Briney Spears junky and fly commercial airlines - it's a great deal. I really felt they lacked quality 1K response and it took me about 10 minutes with a parametric EQ to get anything quality out of the cups. The spectrum was false. Call me picky - but while listening to a 320Kps recording I should be 'wowed.'
These are going back to the store from where they came. I think I'll spend the $50 on some more acoustic padding and put the money toward the new Mackie Monitors that I had in mind. (I'll be able to afford them in 2010).
Not What I had hoped........2006-07-29
The product is okay but the cups are a little small and are difficult to fit over my ear lobes; consequently, they can get uncomfortable after a short time. The On/Off switch is already failing after only a month. The static is being produced when turning it on or the right channel is cuts out when turning it on. I have to turn off and on several times for a clean signal or to get the right channel.
Nice headphones, but you get what you pay for.......2006-05-27
I have had these headphones for about a year now, and can honestly say they are the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. The noise canceling feature works pretty well, and the sound quality is reasonable.
If you are picky at all about the linearity of the sound range though, you will be disapointed. When the noise canceling is off, I would say they sound the best, but has a moderate lack of bass, and when the noise canceling is on, they lack trebel. There is no way to get the best of both worlds unless you have a graphic EQ on whatever device you are playing the music with, (ie. a PC with Windows Media Player). If you are using an iPod, the preset EQ modes are insufficient.
The noise canceling is significant though, so if you are traveling in a noisy vehicle a lot, the benefit of noise canceling far exceeds the sound quality issue. In all, they are worth the price. If they were $100, definately not worth it.
One of my co-workers has a pair of Sony noise canceling headphones with a handy button on the side that shuts down the music so you can listen to someone that walks up and starts talking to you. They have MUCH better sound quality, and equivalent noise reduction. However, they are $150...so bottom line: you get what you pay for.

I've had two of these. The first one failed after about ten scans. I returned it. The second one failed about as fast, however, since I had not used it much and it was outside the warranty the only option was a factory repair (too expensive compared to just buying a new one) or to buy a replacement part based on the factory diagnosis of the problem for about $40 and fix it myself. Based upon my experience with the quality of the parts in these scanners, this did not seem to be a good alternative as the part could not be returned and was without any guarantees at all. Based on my limited experience, it appears to me that the scanner fails if it just sits unused for a period of time.
Poor quality images -- unacceptable.......2007-09-12
I bought this with the intend to digitizing a large collection of slides and negatives. After struggling with the scanner for most of a day, I gave up on getting decent images. The product ads and literature say 3600 dpi, and one can set 3600 dpi, but the scans (as read by Photoshop) never exceeded 1800 dpi, and a very poor 1800 dpi at that. All images were noisy with very little dynamic range and extremely poor color balance. Even Photoshop, which has been able to greatly improve scans from an inexpensive Canon sheet scanner, could not resurrect the terrible images produced by this scanner. The best scans were not even close to the inexpensive prints produced by a bulk print producer. The slide scans were much worse than the view of the slides held up to the light, let alone projected by a Kodak Carosel. It is possible that I received a defective unit (I can't imagine that anyone would find the results acceptable), but after many hours struggling with marginal software and poor results, I decided to return the unit instead of trying another one from the same manufacturer.

I am very happy with this scanner. It is not fast. Not for commercial use. But if you keep feeding slides as they scan you will eventually get your collection done. The ICE technology is marvelous. I tested it on my most damaged slide. (It had previously been unmounted, creased from bending, and badly scratched...hundreds of scratches.) The ICE took out all but one scratch that was easy to edit out manually.
USELESS LUMP.......2007-03-07
The item will not work with a MacPro. The instructions are ludicrious...I've found longer and more instructive directions in a Joe Paloka Jaw Breaker insert. Very poor design. It is at once too large to use as a paper weight, and yet not heavy enough to keep a corpse on the bottom of a river. It's going back. For God's Sake, don't bother!
3650U scanning nightnmare.......2007-02-11
Giving this piece of junk a 1 star is a compliment. The first one I recieved had a big yellow blur down the side when you scanned. I sent it back and got a second unit. It did not have the blur but after a few slides the scanning element would jam and not retract. At the same time the software would freeze. The only solution to unfreeze it was to reboot. Enough is enough. No chance for a third strike. Stay away from this one.
