Top notch product for audiophile.......2007-10-23
I spend a lot of money in my hi-fi system to get the highest quality I can afford. I would have normally bought some high end headphones (Stenneiser HD650 type for example) but I wanted some wireless to be able to move freely in the kitchen while watching TV the morning without waking up anybody and no cable hassle (I would have needed at least 25ft headphone cord).
The sound of this device is phenomenal: nice decoding system built in in case you have a DVD in xvid format or a DTS music playing in your CD. The sound is clear rich and you can feel the volume around you. I frankly did not expect this quality in wireless.
Only problem is it works with Infra red so you need direct line of sight: somebody passes in front of you and you lose the signal for a second.
Highly recommend this product. I tried other brands in wireless and none got that close in quality, at the time I bought it in 2006.

What can be said about a network switch? It works or it doesn't, really. I have no complaints about this switch, it works well. I've had good luck with all D-Link hardware, really. One interesting feature is that it has an indicator to show if a network device is connected at 10Mbps or 100Mbps. I didn't know that one of my older computers had a 10M card in it until I got this switch!

DSS-8 is plug it in and walk away. Very simple. It also has a unique admin interface that you can access. You can set port forwarding, DMZ, Internal Static ip's, etc. Very Very Nice. The whole D Link line is teriffic. I am a sys admin and residential computer tech and use D Link Exclusively.
Loud!.......2002-03-29
I purchased this switch two years ago. It works perfectly except for the noise. The fan is amazingly loud. I am currently looking for a switch to replace it just because of the noise.
I see from some of the other reviews that this model has been replaced with one that doesn't have a fan. Make sure you get that one!
Owned for past 6 Months - Still Working - No Problems.......2001-08-16
I bought his about 6 months ago, and it sure wasn't [the price] it is now... But I made sure then that i got one without a fan. It is much quieter, and with no moving parts i am sure it wont go bad ever.
The only thing that will make me replace this is when the standard is 1000MB/s instaed of the 100MB now. But that wont be much longer.
